in less olympic but still really cool news, 85-year-old pennsylvania woman holds a gun on some kid who tried to rob her house. he broke in, she went for her revolver. then she made him call the cops. hee.
and in less really cool and more "oh please god tell me this isn't actually going to be published" news, bad writing example 1 and bad writing example 2. ignore if possible all the story around the story - who wrote it, how it showed up online, whatever - and just... read it and weep, and then feel better about the quality of your own writing.
