the actual funeral - the service - was not an experience i want to repeat any time soon. my dad gave a really nice speech and my cousin gave a really nice speech and the rabbi was very good and overall it was a lovely service, but y'know, i kept thinking that someday i'll have to do that - stand in front of an audience and tell them about my dad or my mom or my sister. and you know what, i don't ever want to have to do that.
and then we went back to the house and ate and talked and ate and talked, and my parents and sister and i took my cousin david to the airport (his dad, my dad's older brother, couldn't come on account of just having had back surgery, so david came to represent that side of the family) (he's from san fran), and then back to the house again where we ate and talked and etc, and now i'm just really really tired. i like my fam, tho. they're good folks. and a lot of people came to the funeral out of respect and friendship for my uncle (and out of respect and friendship for my dad), and that's pretty gratifying. he touched a lot of people.
and his apple pie was better than mine.
funeral,
a little rain must fall
