some of y'all know i moderate a fic challenge comm,
100originalfics, on the same model as
fanfic100. i'm really proud of it. i've also never had a problem with any of the posts or any of the writers or readers or anyone. it's low-stress and kind of self-regulating and it makes me happy.
...and then today someone posted a ginormous scanned and not cut-tagged spoiler for harry potter 7.
*facepalm*
needless to say i deleted the post as soon i found out, posted to the comm explaining why you don't do that shit on an original fic comm, and apologized to anyone who might have read it accidentally and been spoiled.
i'm not a big hp fangirl. i haven't read past goblet of fire. (which i first typed as giblet of fire. >.< ) but. i'm as spoiler-avoidant as they come and i absolutely understand about cut-tagging to protect people who haven't yet read the book/seen the movie/watched the episode, and who don't want to know what's going to happen until they see/read it for themselves. so even if it was a fannish type comm i would've deleted the post without warning, just for that.
also? it is a community for original fic. it is not a fan type comm. it is not a fanfic comm. it for sure is not a harry potter comm. posting uncut harry potter spoilers at this point is rude and mean and makes you an asshole, and posting them to entirely unrelated lj's and comms is clearly designed to anger and upset as many people as possible, and thus makes you a GINORMOUS asshole.
i mean, really, what the fuck? did these people ever learn common courtesy? (that's a stupid question, isn't it.)
