So apparently it's August, which still hasn't fully hit me yet, even though I know it "intellectually". But of course, what this really means is I didn't do a goals update for July. Although technically, I -did- do an update, just not to this specific journal. *phew* Hooray for non-specificity.

Just what's newly changed since June:
Goals update for July )

I am pretty sure that Noro is all hype. I saw some of the kureyon stuff (the sock yarn actually) that the internet worships and it is merely colourful but scratchy yarn. HOW INNOVATIVE!

I picked up some Silk Garden which is the only thing I remotely like. Other than Cash Iroha I guess, but why would I pay for cashmere really? (Esp. since it's almost like the Silk Garden.) It'd be kind of sad if the yarn had silk or angora or cashmere and it -still- sucked.

Having said that, I'd like to try some other Japanese yarns, but Noro seems to be the only ready thing around.

I'm with you, I don't understand the Kureyon Sock. Does it suddenly become extremely soft after it becomes a sock or something??? But on that note, the worsted weight Kureyon seems to felt nicer than Patons SWS. *shrug*

Way to mispost ;)

I pretty much don't get the wool + wearables thing in general. Wool is scratchy and uncomfortable, which is why only poor people used to keep wearing it once we discovered the wonderful world of softer fibres, lol. I am not in love with wool; I will take a soft acrylic over most sheep wools any day. *foot stamp*

I swear I signed out of that last night, damn it, lol.

Don't worry, I don't disagree with you, though wool is warmer than acrylic, and cotton can't really be imitated by acrylic. If I buy wool, which I do, I'm really picky. It's superwash or it's soft merino. I have yet to actually use cotton. But I haven't been able to find acrylic lace weight yarn. Do you know any?

I don't bother with laceweight anything, so that's a big negatory. And beware of superwash! My hetero life partner knitted some socks with superwash merino and then machine washed them... the first wash felted them to a just pleasingly soft amount. The second wash turned them into little felt booties. Constant vigilance! And swatching!
