Inoo always waits for chances to tell Daiki how he feels without saying it out loud, but time after time after time, he wonders when Daiki will understand he can't say it straight, he remembers Shoon once saying "simple is best, a straight 'I like you'" and sighs. There is nothing he can do.
Daiki enters the room and smiles at Inoo brightly, just for a second Inoo wants to scream out his confession, but that is before Daiki pounces on Asaka, who is sitting on the couch listening to his music player.
"I love you," Inoo mouthes silently, leaning his elbows on the dressing room table and pressing his face onto his hands as he watches himself in the mirror. (Daiki is laughing and pulling away an earphone from Asaka and it is reflected in the mirror.)
"I love you," He repeats again, crossing his arms instead and hiding his face in them. He is tired of trying so hard, he is tired of saying all he wants to say in actions, he wants Daiki to just know - wasn't that how it worked when you loved someone? They'd just know. He wanted Daiki to know when he smiled at him, Inoo didn't know how he managed to stay standing up, he wanted Daiki to know when he laughed, Inoo thought there was nothing more beautiful in the entire world, he wanted Daiki to know that the countless times he found him hiding behind a wall of chibikos for a nap (Inoo always found out because Morimo-chan never learned how to smile convincingly when asked if he knew where Daiki was), he realized there was something more beautiful and that was Daiki's face while he was sleeping.
He falls asleep, listening to Daiki singing along to the ballad he was listening to (while sharing Asaka's earphones, Inoo jealously thinks) and the last thing he hears is Daiki laughing as he messes up the last lines.
Then there is someone blowing softly in his ear and Inoo mumbles in protest, not realizing how long he had slept, not realizing there was only him and one another person in the room.
"Inoo-chan~"
Inoo nearly tumbles off his chair in surprise, but there is a small hand holding his own and pulling him back up and he looks up into a pair of dark eyes and forgets how to speak.
Daiki smiles softly.
Inoo forgets how to breathe.
"Inoo-chan? Are you alright?"
He tries to remember how to breathe, because it is important to not faint in front of Daiki, but he manages to do absolutely nothing, still staring at Daiki's eyes and Daiki's smile and Daiki is saying something and frowning and Daiki leaning in too close and pressing their foreheads together while saying something about a fever and Daiki's hand on the back of Inoo's head, but all Inoo can think about it is how close they are and maybe he could tell Daiki what he means and Daiki would understand just this once.
He takes a breath.
"I love you."
Daiki just gives him a smile.
"I know."
Inoo closes his eyes and smiles.
