“Mr. Sakuraba, show us your solution here on the board,” said the professor with a throbbing vein popping out at his forehead. Neku sighed and walked up to the front. He picked up the marker on his professor’s table and started writing. After doing that, as he was about to walk back to his seat, his professor held him back. “At least explain it, Mr. Sakuraba,” his professor said again in a slightly angered tone. Neku sighed once more and explained fluently. No doubt, Maths was his best subject after all, so it was easy for him to explain it. As soon as he finished explaining, he returned back to his seat and put on his headphones, leaving his angered professor speechless.
Neku was glad that the class ended. After all, he would rather meet up with his friends at the cafeteria than listen to some old geezers rambling on simple things. “Over here, Neku!” Shiki cried as she waved her hand at him. 5 years are one hell of a long time. Neku knew that very well. Well, that was after seeing his and his friend’s fashion style changed. Shiki started to wear contacts and had grown her hair long and dyed. Beat was still with his hip hop style, but more of a matured version. Rhyme became more feminine, but like her brother, she was into hip hop style too. For Neku, well, he removed his head phones and mix matched any brands that suit his style. Surprisingly, he looked so amazing that Shiki kept complimenting him every time they meet.
Neku walked up to them and sat down. “Hey, how’s-” “Oh my god, Neku! You are a genius in mix-matching clothing from different brands! Not to mention, a genius in studies too. Oh my god!!” Shiki started her usual sentence. Neku can’t help but to laugh at it. “Man, Shiki. Why can’t you stop saying that every time we meet?” Beat disclaimed. Shiki turned to Beat and puffed her face. “It can’t be helped! I’m in the fashion design field after all! How can I let someone who is not from the fashion design field overthrow me in terms of fashion trends!” Shiki exclaimed. “I wish Eri is here today. She’s been sick for 2 days now...” and with that, Shiki and Beat let out a sigh. Well, for Beat’s case, he was Eri’s boyfriend after all. Rhyme chuckled at both of them.
“Be patient, both of you. She’ll be healed in no time,” Rhyme commented. Neku nodded in agreement and turned to Rhyme. “So how are you holding up in your class? It’s your first year right?” Neku asked. Rhyme smiled and nodded. “I’m doing well. My classmates are very friendly. And it seems…yours are not doing well?” Rhyme guessed and Neku responded with a sad smile. “It can’t be helped. I’m being hated in my class. Just like the old me.” Neku said. Rhyme smiled and comforted Neku with a pat. “It’s alright. Maybe you’re not opening yourself well enough. And you know us very well thanks to the game. Don’t push yourself too hard to do something you don’t like,” Rhyme said. For Neku, he’s glad that Rhyme was the only one he can talk with. “And 5 years are a long time, Neku. You should let go of it.” Rhyme added as she drank from her juice. Neku blinked and flushed slightly. And with that Shiki and Beat finally calmed down from their quarrel and returned to their usual group conversation.
Neku stayed back at his part time job as what his boss requested. “Sorry for making you stay back to help me, Neku. I’ll give you a day off,” Okada, the boss of Jupiter of The Monkey, Neku’s favourite brand, said. Neku shook his head and smiled. “It’s alright, Okada-san. There’s only two of us here running this shop, so I don’t mind staying back to help you. So you don’t have to give me a day off.” Neku replied. Okada just laughed and insisted that Neku take his day off, and made Neku left the shop while he finished up the remaining work. Neku looked at the watch as he walked back to his apartment. “Hmm...4 am...I wonder if Mr. H is still awake,” Neku muttered under his breath and went to check on the café nearby. It literally became Neku’s everyday routine to check WildKat after his work to see if Joshua would stop by. And tonight, he saw something unusual.
The lights at the café were on when it would be closed whenever Neku observed the café after his work. But today it’s a bit different. He decided to spy and eavesdrop. He got close to the back door and opens it softly, only to see Hanekoma Sanae talking and enjoying his drinks with someone. “I...swear....you...see...stop...stalking...” Neku could barely hear what his idol was saying and could hear a faint voice replying. Neku wanted to go in to see who it was but that would be rude and he might offend his idol with his rude way. His desire to want to know who it is was strong, but Neku restrained himself. He decided to visit Mr. H, as what he would call his idol, the next day and ask about it. After all, he had all the time he needed tomorrow.
