Rants (for a newb in work)
Yea...I finally felt the true working lifestyle...
I've always thought that maybe lecturers are just like clients of work, and assignments are like jobs given to you to do and finish in a limited time. But now I know, its different. Because each 'assignments' give by the 'lecturers' are regarding money, your image, your name, and please your 'head department' aka boss. Yea, that's what I felt.
When I first started working at design field, I was very very very immature. I was still 17, a typical student who is not exposed to the adult's life. So when I went to that office for part time work, I wasn't given much work, as there were two senior designers there to do the work. Clients seek them, while I do all the minor jobs like typing and etc. Then, after I left that place, I didn't call back my office, due to college and also, a little embarrassment.
A year passed (time pass fast, ain't it?) and I finished my foundation last April. After a month of doing nothing, I decided to go back to the same place for part time. The boss gladly welcomed my return and I worked with my colleague. Well, now there's only two of us as one of the old designers left. During the last 4 days, I've only followed my boss's and colleague's requests on jobs, until today when a job was given to me where I have to directly communicate with the client. Of course, being new, I was nervous and what not.
And thanks to my newb skills, I had a hard time communicating with the client. It was my first time after all, until I ended up begging asking my colleague for help. I learnt alot just from that simple communication and I've learn, client's preference must be put as priority for design, no matter how ugly it looks. Well, we can brainwash them to like our preferences but still, as long in a civilized way.
But also thanks to that encounter, I only know...this is not my element. Design, I meant....I wasn't train to overcome art block, lack of creativity, etc. Thanks to that, I ended up getting too stress and didn't like the job. Yea....I guess work also is like a hobby, where you earn money. So, from this, I learnt....my creativity does not fall on design but on cosplay and random doodles....and also there are various type of people in this world wearing different mask to face you. Well, I know this fact long ago, but this is work-related, SOOOOOO I have to be careful. Of course I have to thank my colleague and those close friends who are working for telling me about this earlier. I guess I am still immature 8) Tsu will ganbatte in getting mature!
I guess it doesnt sound like a rant...well coz I dun feel like doing it....since, my anger timing is....SUPERB SHORT!
