Chapter 15 - Bleeding Love
Ryosuke yawned widely, eyes watering as he did so. Blinking back his drowsiness, he squinted at the list in his hands. After the boys had spent the entire afternoon learning how to feed and care for Hana, they had all taken to lazing around the apartment. Upon losing to Yuto and Hikaru in a game of jan-ken-pon, he had been entrusted with the task of buying the ingredients for their dinner, along with plenty other not-so-necessary junk food.
He stretched before reaching for a can of beans but cursed lowly as it slipped from between his fingers and onto the tiled floor of the little mini-mart. He had just begun to lean forwards when another arm intercepted, picking the can up and handing it over to him. Ryosuke warily scrutinized the smiling young man who was about a head taller with messy black hair and a tag with the name KEISUKE.A inscribed upon it before receiving the item with a nod.
“Thank you,” he said politely.
“You just looked so exhausted,” commented Keisuke with a light frown. Ryosuke shrugged.
There was a tingle as two men in black and with ski masks on strolled into the shop. Keisuke turned his attention on them after following Ryosuke’s alarmed gaze.
“I have a bad feeling about this,” Keisuke sighed heavily. Ryosuke realized that he and Keisuke were the only ones in the mart and felt his heart rate pick up its pace.
The cashier girl screamed as one of the two men pointed a gun at her.
“Shut the hell up and load this bag up with all you got in that machine!”
The second man had a blade in his hand and spotting the two boys he barked at them to stay put and throw their phones onto the floor.
“Don’t worry, they shouldn’t have a reason to harm us if we do as they ask,” Keisuke whispered dropping his cell phone onto the ground. Ryosuke nodded dumbly. The cashier girl stuffed the dirty bag with money from the register before diving under the counter, sobbing.
The two men started joking around and laughing hysterically, as if they were amazed at how easy this was. The one with the gun kept an eye on his hostages and the one with the blade went around grabbing whatever he could hold from the shelves and filling up an entire trolley with beer.
“YOU!”
Ryosuke flinched as the gunned man headed towards them.
“Your wallets and watches…NOW!”
Keisuke stumbled with his pockets before shakily handing the man his possessions. Ryosuke stood still, eyeing the exchange with anger slowly building up within him. Why should he hand up anything of his to this rogue anyway? He watched the other man throwing things around now, braking whatever he could with every swig of his drink.
“Where is the money bag?” he shot at the frightened girl before pulling her up by her hair. She retaliated, accidentally ripping his mask off. He jerked back in surprise, slamming her onto the ground. He looked at his companion, dumbstruck.
“You idiot, now they’ll know our face!”
“You mean my face Ki…what do we do now?”
“Let’s make a move…before the police gets here,”
“Let’s take these two as hostages…just in case we run into the cops,”
Ryosuke gasped as the man with the gun grabbed his arm harshly and poked him with the pistol.
“Out through the back door!”
The girl was left unconscious as the two thugs hustled Ryosuke and Keisuke out through the back door and into an alley.
“Where are you taking us?” Keisuke demanded. The man without the mask laughed.
“We’ll throw you two in the river after we make our escape,”
“Yeah… I really hope you can swim,”
Ryosuke bit his cheek as the fingers clenched his arm tightly, aware of the gun on the back of his head. The lanes were becoming increasing silent; they were taking the most deserted of routes. It had been a good 20 minutes of the thugs pushing them around and joking amongst themselves that they arrived at a desolate bridge.
“Now, before you two walk the plank…the short one there…you haven’t given us your wallet,”
Ryosuke backed off against the rail as the unmasked man reached for him and grabbed his jacket harshly. Almost in reflex, Ryosuke grabbed the arm and twisted his wrist, feeling it break underneath his fingers and earning a pained shriek in return. He then pushed the man who was twice his size roughly away from himself and watched as he slid all the way across the road, slamming against the rail on the other side with a loud clang.
Keisuke stared at him in disbelief, the sound of bones braking had been audible to all present. But the man’s gunned accomplice gained his composure quickly and punched Keisuke across the face before glaring at the shorter boy.
“You…you’ll pay for that!”
Ryosuke’s eyes widened as the man raised his gun and fired.

There was a sudden silence in the large apartment as all eyes were fixed upon the pieces of glass scattered on the floor, the jagged edges rimmed with crimson. Daiki was staring at his hands that had been holding the bowl seconds ago. He didn’t really understand what had made him do it. There was a sudden shudder in his body, so powerful that the pain had made him clench the bowl with strength he normally wouldn’t possess. He had watched in horror as the glass cracked and shattered in his grasp, cutting through his skin.
“Daiki…are you alright?”
He looked up dumbly as the others rushed to him.
“I don’t know what just happened…,” he gasped bewildered as Kei began fussing about his injury. Kota frowned and pulled out his phone.
Something told him that he should call Ryosuke home.
