And the great show ends...

I feel the need to write an entry in honour of Merlin, the great show which just ended yesterday. It's been an exciting and enjoyable ride, the casts did fabulous job to deliver a greatest ever show. I'm already missing it as I write.

As how the legend tells, Arthur died in the hand of Mordred (though honestly, according to historians' account, Arthur and Mordred both were present in the battle of Camlann, but no account of Mordred killing Arthur). The ending was heartbreaking, but I'm sure we all somehow prepared ourselves for this ending for it can't diverge too much from the legend. At first I thought the show would end with Arthur becoming the King, able to make decisions on his own, and Merlin leaving him. Then the sudden announcement of Merlin ending in season 5 and the story would end in the way how the legend has always been told. I'm sure upon reading the announcement, all of us suspected that Arthur would die, but I'm also sure that most had wished for his survival, despite how slight that chance was.

All the words that Arthur said to Merlin before his death was touching and with a great pang of nostalgia. Finally he saw the true identity of Merlin and accepted as he's. Collin Morgan did an amazing job in expressing his overwhelming feelings when hearing Arthur's final words; love, worry, sadness, regret, unwilling to let go of his friend, all of all it moved my heart so much I felt like crying along (though of course I didn't). Bradley James, oh Bradley, how his character of Arthur will always remain in my heart. I just love the way he acted as Arthur, wish I could watch more episodes of him being Arthur :(

Speaking back about the characters, Arthur is a good, honourable and just man, so I've no doubt in why Merlin would trust so much in him to bring a different, bright and hopeful future. When Arthur said sorry to Merlin about how he'd treated him for all these years, that was really sad to hear, cause we all know Arthur would not apologize unless he knows he's dying. We all know even though Arthur can be a jerk and dork, he never really meant to harm or hurt Merlin. In fact, he treasured Merlin above all other, even more than his beloved queen and brotherly knights. I find that line heart-aching. T____T

Merlin is a great show to me, despite being fictional, it managed to make me feel the same happiness, sadness, love and joy like the characters. I could feel the same sadness of losing someone when Arthur said "thank you" to Merlin and then there he's gone, forever. I've to admit though, I'm glad that he accepted who Merlin is and managed to show his appreciation and gratitude to him before he died. That's only fair to Merlin, and that's only how I'd expect Arthur to act.

So now with the end of Merlin, I lost something to look forward to every weekend. I know I'll live by finding out other amazing shows, it's just that it's harder to find a show that satisfies me as much as Merlin. Let's hope that the next BBC show is going to be as great as this one. Lastly, a million thanks to the programme makers and casts for their good 4 years of working on delivering a memorable and thrilling show that has been Merlin. :)

Long Live Merlin! Long Live Arthur! \(^o^)/
