I've been meaning to post about this for the past couple of days but I've either been tired or busy playing Heart no Kuni no Alice. Maybe this way I'll stop spamming twitter with it.
Heart no Kuni no Alice arrived on Friday. Unfortunately our TV decided it wanted to die that Thursday so I had no TV to play it on. Luckily our family was going shopping on Friday and my mom bought me a TV from a thrift store as a Christmas present. We got home late so I stayed up way late playing it.
I just wanted to post about the game. I managed to get "good end" with Boris so it's kind of amazing. Anyway, this post unfortunately will have no pictures since I'm playing the PS2 version and not the computer version. I could take pictures of the TV but that looks weird. I plan on buying the computer version later though so maybe expect pictures then? idk.
First, I'll give a little background. HnKnA is an otome game where you play as Alice Liddell. She is brought to another world by Peter (the white rabbit) and all of the characters are human except some have ears that match their characters (i.e. Boris has cat ears since he is the Cheshire Cat).
Peter White = White Rabbit
Blood Dupre = Mad Hatter
Elliot March = March Hare
Boris Airay = Cheshire Cat
Vivaldi = Queen of Hearts
Ace = Knight of Hearts (?)
Dee & Dum Tweedle = Names kept same though sometimes called the Bloody Twins
There are some characters which I think are original too such as (Mary) Gowland, Julius, & Nightmare.
When you get to Wonderland you pick to stay at 1 of 3 places. You can stay at the amusement park where Boris and Gowland live, stay at the Hatter mansion where Blood, Elliot, & Dee and Dum live, or stay at the castle where Vivaldi, Peter and Ace live. Julius stays at the clock tower but you can't live there. You pick where you live based on who you want to date. You can date anyone from the game except Nightmate. You try unlocking all CGs and scenes for that person by hanging out with them and hanging out with some others will also unlock some extra sub-scenes. Days are sporadic and it switches between noon, midday and night all of the time at random and CGs only unlock at certain times of the day.
If you do that, you get "good end" which is staying in Wonderland with that person. If not you end up going home unless you stayed at the castle and never visited Vivaldi or stayed at the Mansion and never visited the twins, which in both cases, they will kill you.
What I love is that it's so different from La Corda, the only other otome game I've ever played. The objective in La Corda is to get a love confession. In HnKnA they have no problems kissing you or telling you how much they like you right away. Plus the characters are so different from most otome games since almost all of the characters are at least a little bit psychotic. You get things like gun fights, etc.
-------
The first time I played, I tried Boris' route. It didn't go so well the first time. I did get almost all of his CGs but I never hung out with the twins or Julius thus got "bad end".
I played a second time on Saturday and this time I played the Twins' route. Their scenes were usually either really dirty or odd. On several occasions they invite you on a date and their "date" is killing people. Once again, I didn't hang out with anyone except them so I got bad end. Yes, you date them both at the same time. They bring it up several times to pick which one you like better.
Now comes the one that I enjoyed the most. On Sunday, I played Boris' route again. This time I looked up that you had scenes with the twins and Julius so I got to know both of them and unlocked some of their CGs. I managed to get almost all of Boris' solo CGs but I was one short so when they started the scene where you get "bad end" and go home I was not surprised. However right when Alice was about to go home, Boris interrupts here. Since my Japanese is horrible I could only pick out bits and pieces of what was sais but he hands her his gun and tells her to kill him if she's going to leave him. She refuses and then he threatens to kill her. Alice starts crying and in the end decides to stay with him. Boris handcuffs himself to Alice so she won't leave him. At one point he takes the handcuffs off, licks her hand and asks her if she is hurt. The last scene ends with Alice and Boris about to kiss. I currently have about 83% of his CGs unlocked so I'll have to play again to get the rest.
Anyway, I'd probably go more in-depth with each scene if I had pictures. Maybe when I buy the computer version, I'll write more about everyone's scenes as I go through.
Right now I'm staying at the castle and I'm undecided if I should go for Peter's route or Ace's.
