We both stood atop that hillside, you next to me rather than a step behind. Dry blood was smeared across my face, the tang of a hundred lives destroyed bittersweet on my tongue.
I’d lost knights who gave their life for Camelot, but you, a man who would die for me a thousand times over, are still here.
I turn to you, you turn to me, and we smile. For all that we’ve lost and all that we shall never get back, we remain together, Merlin.
That day I held you close as the wind spoke of a destiny fulfilled.
