summer on my tongue

Aug 16, 2024 12:19

i can taste it all
sky, sun, the wind
rustling the grass
like your fingers
through my hair
pause now, lay back,
lay still beside me
together, alone
read the clouds above us
the yielding grass beneath
scents of this sunkissed field
graced with sweet birdsong
the world burns, cries out,
begs for our souls, our care
and we will listen, and heal,
and love our mother well
but this long afternoon,
this drowsy, private hour,
i'll pluck berries for you
and kiss your sweet mouth
and lose myself in our arms
