Here is the official Springfest Timeline, which includes specific dates for you guys to keep in mind. Please note that, though this is very solid right now, dates are subject to change (particularly that April 6th date, when posting begins). If that happens, everyone will be alerted.
January 15th: Prompting starts
January 20th: Prompting ends
January 22nd: Claiming starts
January 27th: Claiming ends (Secondary Claiming begins until the 31st)
February 24th: First (optional) check-in
March 24th: Second (mandatory) check-in
April 1st: Final drafts due
April 6th: Posting begins
Under the cut is a more detailed timeline, with a short overview of what each date actually entails.
January 15th: Prompting starts
You will have 5 days to leave prompts for fics, art/graphics, or vids, for any pairings and scenarios you desire (there will be an optional theme, but you'll learn more about that later). More detailed prompting instructions will come with the prompt entry itself. All prompts will be screened, and you can post a maximum of 3 prompts each. You do not have to commit to creating something when you prompt.
January 20th: Prompting ends
Once prompting ends,
salvadore_hart and I will number the prompts to keep them anonymous and repost them in another entry (or two, depending on how many we get).
January 22nd: Claiming starts
Claiming will last for another 5 days, but remember that it will be on a first come, first serve basis, so act fast! Salv and I will be striking out prompts as they're claimed for fic, art/graphics, or vids, but since we can't be here around the clock, you will comment with your top three preferences for prompts. If your first choice has been claimed already, but hadn't been struck out yet, you will receive your second choice, and so on.
January 27th: Claiming ends (Secondary Claiming begins until the 31st)
Claiming two prompts is totally allowed and welcomed, but we're going to call that Secondary Claiming, and wait until the initial claiming ends so that everyone gets as much of a first pick as they can. Secondary Claiming will last until January 31st.
Over the weekend of the 31st, emails will go out to let people know which prompts they've successfully claimed. Unless you are claiming two prompts, you should absolutely know your prompt by the 31st. For people claiming two prompts, we will get your second prompts to you ASAP after the 31st, no later than February 2nd.
After you have your prompt, write/draw/'shop/edit/whatever! :D
We're also going to make a post asking for pinch-hitters at one point, because drop-outs happen and abandoned prompts are sad. This will happen sometime between the end of Secondary Claiming and the first check-in.
February 24th: First (optional) check-in
This is pretty standard; just pop in to let us know you're still in the game, update us on your progress and such. It's optional but definitely encouraged.
March 24th: Second (mandatory) check-in
This will be the same as the first check-in, but is mandatory. If you don't check in on March 24th, it will be assumed that you've dropped out, and pinch-hitters will be contacted. This is also the time to start considering whether or not you can finish your assignment on time; if you think you can't, talk to us mods and we can plan for extensions.
April 1st: Final drafts due
Don't think of this date like it's a scary dragon intent on eating up your free time and fun. Plan to have your final draft submitted by the 1st (and full submissions guidelines will go up way beforehand, so don't worry about that), but do not freak out and have a meltdown on March 31st if you're not done. Salv and I are very reasonable, flexible people who you can talk to about extensions. We promise. :D
April 6th: Posting begins
Posting! Yay! The exact details of posting are not set in stone yet (we're still debating whether or not to do it all anonymously, which is super fun and allows for groovy things like a guessing poll and reveals and such), but they will be before this date.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, feel free to
contact the mods!
