The group seems to love Jeff. Mark doesn't really get it.

He and Eduardo walk to the library together after Spanish. Eduardo always seems to be hanging around, and Mark doesn't have the heart or the energy to shake him. Also, Eduardo's smart, and he seems to find Mark brilliant and hilarious, and Mark values that in people.

"Señor Chang is crazy," Eduardo says. "Did he say he was going to bite people?"

"I think el tigre chino was using a figure of speech."

Eduardo nods. "Well, I'm glad we got matching cards. I think I trust you more than anybody in the group."

Mark looks at Eduardo, his brows furrowed, and frowns, wanting to ask Why? Eduardo doesn't even know him. Instead, he just shrugs.

"You could have been partners with Pierce," Eduardo says. "Or Troy."

Mark smirks. "I don't know, I think if I learned 'bro' and 'beer bong' in Spanish, Troy and I could actually work together."

Eduardo giggles and claps Mark on the back.

When the two of them get outside, the sidewalk is swarmed with people in white t-shirts with a face on it. Annie and Shirley, who are manning a both, see Mark and Eduardo and wave them over.

"Eduardo!" Annie squeals, beaming. "Want a brownie?"

"What is this?" Eduardo asks her and happily takes a brownie off the tray. "Mm. Annie. These are delicious. Mark, you should have one."

"We're raising awareness about Guatemala," Shirley contributes.

Nodding, Annie adds, "In Guatemala, they kill journalists who criticize the government."

"Is that a piñata?" Eduardo points behind the booth at a piñata of a person in a press hat.

"This is our Chacata-Panecos piñata," Annie says. "It's a very important part of our message."

The name sounds similar to Mark - Chris has brought the name up before, Mark thinks, in some of his activist efforts. "Wasn't he beaten to death?"

"That's the point!" Shirley says, almost gleeful.

"It's poignant."

Mark squints at them for a moment, trying to figure them out, but comes to the conclusion that he will probably never understand and leaves to actually get to the library. Eduardo waves a goodbye to Shirley and Annie (who blushes), thanks them for the brownies and follows behind Mark.
