Fill #1, Part 13: Eduardo/girl!Mark anonymous October 24 2011, 02:34:17 UTC
He could avoid her forever or he could die trying. Truthfully, this was not what Eduardo had expected would happen. He should have known by now that overreacting caused him trouble and usually with Mark involved. That should have been his first sign of trouble and maybe stopping it before it started. The second should have been Sean’s eagerness to be a pain in his ass, Sean only harped people when he was trying to get them go along with some master plan. Eduardo had figured that out years later when looking back on Sean’s opportunistic actions, he planned, schemed, and used his condescendingly charming personality like a finely sharpened weapon ready to strike the second the player held it.

Fell for it all over again. Fucking Sean Parker.

“Threaten to take away his Facebook shares or something. Can’t you do anything?” he hissed at Mark.

She could fix this, she just didn’t want to.

Mark toyed with the strings on her sweatpants and offered up a shrug sitting on the desk like she owned the place. She did but that was besides the point, for a victim she was rather smug.

“Are you going to say anything back or just sit there?”

Mark noted his face was turning pink, Eduardo tended to look like a hot air balloon with a sun burn when he got annoyed. Maybe that the key she needed to get him to pay attention to her since actually talking to him like a human being had so far failed. She got mad back, he got a little violent, and then yelled at Sean.

She agreed, he got frustrated.

The one thing Eduardo couldn’t stand was the silent treatment, Mark knew that for a fact. He could tolerate and deal with a lot of things from Mark’s less stellar personality to her ambition, and every other negative trait she had. However, he positively could not stand it when she ignored him.

“Oh now I see you’re gonna ignore me, Zuckerberg? After all the trouble Sean has gone through for you to make me understand how blind I was or you were? You’re just going to sit there and pretend like this was fine and it was your brilliant plan from the start?” Eduardo was now starting the conversation, they were making some leeway.

Mark was taking mental notes of the meeting. Eduardo thought Mark was blind about his feelings (she was and she wasn’t- it was complicated), Eduardo thought Mark used him (she didn’t, he needed to realize that he loved being maid, father, brother, and boyfriend all in one pretty package), Eduardo blamed Sean for weaselling his way into Mark’s life (maybe justified but she still liked Sean), but blamed Mark for allowing it more (how unfair).

He also needed to realize that he was a hot head, no matter what he liked to pretend Eduardo was calm, calmer than Mark on most occasions until he saw red. Then like a bull, he became an angry ball of unstoppable aggression. His victims were taunted, yelled at, verbally abused, and sometimes if in the right situation hit.

Eduardo was a little too loose cannon at times and that was bad for business. Sean didn’t play by the rules and if you didn’t get caught (his mistake)- he could have been involved forever. Sean was a business man in the way that mattered. Eduardo was like that company numbers guy, you wanted to play Wall-street for you but the second the short lists for promotions came up, his name would be the one at the bottom of the list. She understood his resentment but truthfully Sean had her ear because he was made for business and Eduardo was not- in traditional and non-traditional sense (like Facebook).

Eduardo loved to see her faults and not his. His behavior right now was a perfect example. She offered to humor him and talk and then she was rejected. It was time to make it harder on him. They sat there in silence for what seemed like forever, Eduardo calmed down and Mark appeared serene the sense of satisfaction morphed into something of horror and regret. It was not that she enjoyed torturing Eduardo but he was really stubborn when it came to her.

“You ready to listen now?” Mark asked about an hour later.

Eduardo nodded.

AN: LIKE OMG I UPDATED. But no really, I finished Nawrimo and was like "BACK TO FILL POSTS".

-

Mark poked his chest and forced him to sit down next to her. He flopped briefly but landed gracefully, their gazes even with each other.

“I wasn’t blind. Well not entirely.”

“Go on,” he encouraged.

“I had no idea how much you did for me but when it came to Facebook, you never did enough,” she told him gently as possible.

Mark knew Eduardo would be angry but sometimes it was better to just be honest. He was already wound up about Sean, why make it worse?

“And Sean?” he demanded, he wanted to know if they ever had a thing.

She started laughing almost bitterly, “God no. I mean I thought about it. He’s pretty hot and he does have a killer smile…”

Eduardo scowled trying to look jealous but failing at some point. He was still angry as hell but his feelings ran deep.

“Oh don’t even judge me. You fucked Christy- oh and you dated Erica.”

“You said it didn’t bother you,” he protested.

Mark wanted slap him, “I’m a woman OF COURSE IT BOTHERED ME. You think your mister sensitive but you know NOTHING ABOUT WOMEN.”

Eduardo flinched, he had accused her of not being a girl unless it suited her but apparently somehow he had missed that was actually capably being aware of how to act or think like one. Maybe he was somewhat wrong on his assumptions.

“I know plenty about women. I have a mother.”

Now she was laughing. That was like saying he was an expert on pregnancy because he was born.

“I have a male dog that in no way implies expertise,” she retorted still amused by his statement, “But I have learned a thing or two from hanging out with you, Dustin, Chris, and Sean about men and penis’.”

“I brought you home that day.”

“Dustin told me earlier today. I was wondering why honestly I should have seen this coming.”

Well at least his friends had tried to make him look good. This still sucked however, and Sean was going to die.

“You did a lot for me. I was stupid. I’m sorry,” she added after a minute, “I’m not sorry about firing you.”

Eduardo gripped his hands on the table, looking into her eyes he could see the honesty in them. She had no hint of remorse for firing him at all.

“Not even the way you did it?” he asked painfully.

Mark looked down at the table and then after a minute looked back to him, she looked upset almost hurt when she answered, “No.”

Despite promising himself that he would stay angry, that he would fight back, and prove how wrong she was. Eduardo was stung, and he felt himself ready to tear up. Not wanting to appear to be a girl as well, he forced himself to suck it up but his gaze already reflected the pain from hearing her say that.

“I regret what we never had or that I rejected your help on so many things personally. You always made such great food and you were trying to keep from turning into R2D2 which is more than I can say for anyone else. But Wardo, it wasn’t enough,” she told him sadly, “You didn’t see me or my vision. You saw a girl, you had a crush on and lusted for. That was it. That was all you saw. That cool tomboy chick. Didn’t even consider what sleeping with Christy would do to me when you knew she hated my guts.”

“What about Sean? You knew I hated him,” he replied somewhat annoyed by hypocrisy.

“I never slept with Sean.”

Eduardo kicked the chair opposite them sending it crashing to the floor making a loud thud, Mark flinched and then Sean came running to door to check on them thinking the worst. He flung open the door and asked, “WHAT HAPPENED?”

Eduardo stood up and pushed past him leaving.

Mark did not try to stop him.

“Why did you just let him leave?” Sean demanded after they watched Eduardo storm passed half the office, and flip off Dustin on the way out.

“Why did you set us up? Oh wait, I know. Your self centered existence couldn’t take the idea of being left in the cold. So your plan was to bribe me with Wardo,” Mark replied getting up and storming off.

Dustin looked up from the desktop computer he was hiding behind, “I warned you.”

“You don’t even work here anymore!”

“Neither do you and unlike you, I’m actually Eduardo’s friend,” he pointed out standing up and running after Mark.

“Where are you going?!”

“To get Chris!!!!”

--

Dustin decided waiting was a bad idea, if there was a moments hesitation than Eduardo would flip out and leave the state. He had little time to act and Chris was the person they called when someone was near going off the deep end.

“Chris, call me back. You need to get to Eduardo’s hotel room before he runs away. I’m heading to Mark’s house.”

--

What he failed to realize was Eduardo was pissed at Sean, not Mark. Mark had run after him the second he took off.

“Wardo! Wait!”

Eduardo turned around and stared at her for a second, his fierce gaze lowered and a slightly smile replaced the sour expression on his face.

“I thought you were behind me, the entire time. I wasn’t planning on leaving you behind,” he pointed out.

Mark paused frozen, “You weren’t running off?”

“No, I was just getting away from Dustin so I didn’t kill him.”

“Dustin but not Sean?”

“I figured you could kill Sean. He doesn’t deserve my fist in his face. We aren’t friends. That and I kind of want to thank him but if I do that makes this all okay and I’m not ready to let them get off the hook yet,” he smirked.

She smiled back and threw her arms around him.

“So? You forgive me?”

“Why don’t I just make us dinner… we’ll talk. See what happens?”

Mark handed him her keys, “Car’s that way.”

--

It took another seven hours for Chris to arrive, Dustin waited for him at the airport around five in the morning.

Chris yawned approaching with his bags, “It’s too early for this kind of drama.”

“Our hard work has failed,” he replied.

“You’re kind of an idiot, it was a failure two years ago. We’re trying to rebuild and obviously there was a setback. Probably why Sean shouldn’t have been allowed to help but he had an idea which is more than I can say for us,” Chris pointed out.

“So what do we do?” Dustin asked lugging Chris bag to the car for him.

“Drive me to Mark’s house. I’ll handle it.”
