Antonio «Tony» Carr - british jazz drummer and percussionist, born 24 October 1930, Malta. Moved to London in 1952, worked with ROY FOX and FRANK KING (1953), then (in 1954) did the first of several annual European tours with BILLY ECKSTINE. Worked with guitarist CHICK LOVELLE at the Savoy Hotel, London, then, in the 1960s, played with many jazz groups: RONNIE ROSS'S QUINTET (including trip to Czechoslovakia), with HUMPHREY LYTTELTON (1964-5), with DANNY MOSS'S QUARTET, in SPIKE HEATLEY'S TRIO, in BILL LE SAGE'S TRIO, etc. Subsequently did international touring with ALAN PRICE and with DONOVAN. From the 1970s through the 1990s active as a freelance, specializing in Latin-American percussion.
