last night i went to a fundraiser in the rich part of laguna beach. well, one of the thousands of rich parts. it was for eagles, like the birds. there are some eagles out on catalina island that were affected by DDT and they were raising money to ensure their survival. a noble cause, i feel. so i went, knowing that i would not be one of the many to give funds away seeing as how i have none. as i walked in i cloaked myself in an air of superiority. turns out i didn't have to! rich people can be nice! it was a small event and it seemed that most everybody was aquainted. the food was good. the free sierra nevadas were even better. and there was a real live bald eagle on display in the courtyard, so that took up a good chunk of my attention. i was introduced as the relative who does whitewater rafting and suddenly there were plenty of people to talk to. that was cool. since most of these people love vacations in hard to reach places, they bombarded me with questions. i guess the moral of the night is that richy's are just like us. except they don't hesitate to bid 10 GRAND on a vacation package that is worth 5. but other than that, there is no difference!
