mr bungle baby doll tube tops

i have a lot of large men t shirts that i've been meaning to turn into different styles of girly shirts for years now. i took one of my favorite tee's and turned it into a tube top buy cutting the arms and neck off and by tying the sides together so you can see small slits up my torso. this unfortunately wasn't the best idea for my very favorite shirt because i didn't cut my shirt straight (there's a back and front to it) and i can't seem to make the ties at the side look right; they just pop out all funny and messy looking. would turning it inside out work? i'm trying to make my band t's as cute as possible because i don't wear baggy t-shirts.... does anyone know how to alternate a t shirt into a smaller shirt, but still make them look a bit grungish looking? lol
did everyone get that?
