First t-shirt surgery

Feb 08, 2008 00:58

So, my best friend has let me borrow one of her crappy sewing machines. Tonight, I finally got it working long enough to modify a t-shirt. I'm excited so I have to show it off. It's far from the best thing in the world but it's just my first so I think it's pretty good.

I laid it out on a table and and traced a tank top shape on it so that all of the picture was still intact. Then I pinned it and cut around the outline leaving room for a seam, also cut off the collar and bottom hem. Sewed up the sides and tried it on to see if it was tight enough then just kept tweaking the spots the looked weird or were too big still. Then hemmed the collar, bottom and sleeves when it was the way I wanted it. I'm sure it could have been down so much easier than that but, first try and all, gotta make mistakes to learn.

Will do once I get to work on it. I think I'll be using this site (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=100217.msg973111#msg973111) as my guide to doing it.
