i saw empires last night.
natalie & i had fun adventures in the city talking to people in british accents. long story short, we got to the venue at 6:30 just a few minutes before doors. and tom & max were walking around outside! it was quite exciting. plus i saw
teamtrohman which was a nice surprise :)
so i still don't know the name of the first band who played, but they were pretty good. the guitarist was cute. harvard was insane, in a good way - the lead singer was like, out of his mind, and he wore this freaky old man mask and he was very into it and amusing to watch.
webster hall is pretty small, which was nice because it felt more intimate. it wasn't too crowded.
here are me & natalie being ridiculous...
this picture pretty much captures our relationship
we're cute
straight edge wooooooo
empires were fantastic. setlist:
i want blood
damn things over
midnight land
hello lover
voodooized
spit the dark
bang
i was pretty satisfied with the mixture of songs from howl & bang that they played. sean is so passionate when he sings and i loved watching him interact with the crowd. overall i think they sounded great, and i had a lot of fun.
after their set we went to find the guys. first sean came out, he was a complete sweetheart! not to mention very adorable. i told him they were great and he was like "oh, you liked it? good, good!" he introduced himself formally to natalie & i and we shook hands and all, it was cute. he asked if it was my first time seeing them and i explained that i always try to but it never works out, but he said he was glad we got to come. i got a picture with him after he warned me that he was very sweaty, then i asked if he had a sharpie. he went off looking for one but couldn't find one, so he told me to find him at merch later.
next we saw max! we were kind of in the middle of the crowd so we couldn't talk much, but he thanked me a few times for coming.
ugh then we found tom, and he was so. nice. i told him that they were awesome and he grabbed my arm and was like "thank you so much!" not sure what else was said, but he was so kind.
he looks so creepy hahaha but i swear he's so tiiiny and cute in person!
lights resolve started to play and we listened to a little of their set before heading to merch, but the guys weren't there and it was getting late so we decided to head out. (first i got a copy of "bang" because i didn't have the actual physical cd yet.) when we got outside we saw sean and tom again, and sean was like "oh, we never found a sharpie, did we!" BUT
teamtrohman was there and her friend came to the rescue and pulled out a sharpie. i gave him my copy of "howl" to sign and he said something along the lines of not having seen it in a while. i thanked him then went over to tom, and he was like "we talked inside, didn't we!" he signed it too ("hey, howl!") then shook hands with us, and before we left he was like "you're gonna come see us again, right?" i told him that they don't come to the east coast often enough and he's like "i know, but it's not our fault! the only venues that take us are 21+ so we're not trying to play favorites, really! we'll be back!" it was so cute.
never got to see ryan, i think he ran away right after they finished playing, but i was satisfied anyway! the guys were so sweet and down-to-earth and played a fucking awesome show. i can't wait to see them again. i have blisters the size of nickels on my feet from walking around the city in rainbows all day but it was totally worth it!
um in other news, my last exam was today and i'm officially a SENIOR. tomorrow is the bamboozle roadshow at six flags. i'm so fucking excited to go on roller coasters with patrick and see 3eb. love my life.
