76) Fifty Degrees Below by Kim Stanley Robinson. The second of his modern political books dealing with climactic change. This time around there's an election, a record-setting cold winter (as you might guess by the title) and an effort made to do things. My complaints about the first book don't apply here - stuff happens. He also cut the number of main characters to basically one, but with enough asides to the others that it's not all focused in one area.

It kinda reminded me of The West Wing, if it took place at the National Science Foundation, and focused on hard science, instead of soft politics.

This book is way better than the first...and smaller type too, so that while it's the same number of pages (roughly) there's more to read. There's still time to ruin everything with the third book, but I don't think that's going to happen.
