A play from the past but not to long ago
This is a play I did in school with some people in a group if you know me you saw it.
Medea
Sparta A
Block 3
Jason’s other wife: Jasmine
Chorus: Aleasha, Colin, Cody
Medea: Kerrah
Jason: Tyler
Sitter: Aleasha
Scene One
Chorus : Sparta A has a simple tale. All things happen the to the same people at the same time as the centuries flow by. The folly and evil of this world create a spectacle of helpless repletion.
Medea: Gods who couple men and women, hear me! I call upon those in whose name my husband Jason swore his oaths to me, and to his children. I appeal to you to hear my hideous prayer. The sun himself sowed my family’s seed, yet Jason has cast aside the fruit of my existence and me on foreign soil to wither. His wedding hymn pounds at my ears. Tear wedding torches out of their hands, the very light out of the sky. Unmake this day. His new home was born in crime. Bare your rage. Make me Medea. People expect it.
Scene Two
Jason: Medea would you like to go out to eat tonight?
Medea: but what about the kids
Jason: I have a sitter (Aleasha walks into the scene)
Medea meet theta (slight pause) Theta meet Medea
Medea: Pleasure to meet you (Aleasha just stares at Medea)
(Medea pauses for a second) Okay, lets go
Chorus: They sit down to eat dinner. They are talking about how their day has done. It is silent for a moment. Jason breaks the silence.
Jason: We need to talk (he pulls at the collar at his jacket)
Medea: What about my love? (she has a nervous look on her face)
Jason: ( he takes a deep breath) I’m leaving you
Medea: But why …what about our children? What will I tell them? What if they ask me why you left… What am I suppose to respond with?
Jason: (shrugs his shoulders) Respond with what ever you want … I don’t care…
Medea: What am I supposed to tell them? That their father left me for some younger woman .. and that he never loved me, or them?
Jason: yeah that works … I don’t care. (walks off stage in a very calm manner)
Medea: Don’t you walk away from me .. you can leave me and everyone else but you aren’t going to make me tell the kids your decision. You tell them.
(Jason walks back onto stage)
Jason: Don’t you tell me what to do (slaps her)
Medea: Fine I’ll tell them ( she whimpers ) I’ll say you died .. you better watch out because you will die, soon enough (she says the line with a scornful look on her face)
Jason: what is that supposed to mean? (raises his brow)
Medea: You figure it out
Jason: (talks to his self, walks out of the scene) I don’t even know why I married her.
Scene Three
Chorus: After their emotional dispute Jason and Medea went home to break the horrible news to their children.
Medea: Kids come here, your “father” and I have to talk to you about something.
(Two chorus members go in front of Medea and sit down like small children Colin and Cody)
Medea: Go ahead Jason tell them (elbows him in the side)
Jason: Alright (takes a deep breath) your mother and I are splitting up. It was your mother’s decision. (points at Medea)
Cody child one: Why do you have to do this to us ( his head lowers)
Medea: it wasn’t my choice it was your fathers
Colin child two: Dad doesn’t lie
( Colin and Cody run off stage)
(Medea jerks her head around and glares at Jason her eyes seem to stare into his soul with the evil look she give him)
Medea: You will pay (her eyes narrow)
Jason: What is your problem
Scene Four
Chorus: It has been a month now. Jason and Medea are not together. The kids keep on about how Medea took their father away. Medea decides to go find where her former husband lives. So she can send the kids there to stay for a while. After looking for a week and a half she found where he lived and went there.
(Jason opens the door)
Jason: What are you doing here (looks at her astonished)
Medea: I don’t know what to do anymore. The kids won’t lay off you saying it was my idea to separate.
Jason: That’s my problem because?
(Jason’s new wife walks into the scene looking surprised to see this strange women at the door)
SW: What’s going on? (looks Medea like she’s crazy) Who is this?
Medea: Who is that ( looks at Jason like he is a psychopath)
Jason: Medea , this is the love of my life. This is my wife.
Medea: YOUR WIFE!?! ( looks at Jason puzzled) what do you mean “your wife”.
SW: It’s basically what it says. We have been together for awhile and got married a month ago.
Medea: Jason that’s it, you will pay for this ( stares him down )
Jason: How is that going to happen (smirks)
Medea: You’ll find out soon enough (looks at SW)
You ought to be careful, you wouldn’t want anything to happen to you would you? (smirks at the SW and eyes her)
SW: Jason, she’s scaring me
Jason: Medea get out of our home (he stares her down)
Chorus: When she got home she went straight to her room to work. When the kids would come to the door she just simply told them to go away
Scene Five
Chorus: She is now practically insane, mentally ill. She’s planning her revenge on her despicable ex-husband. She will first start with the children and she beings to plot her children’s untimely demise.
Medea: Kids I have something for you (she says with a crazed look in her eyes)
(Colin and Cody run into the scene)
Colin child one: really what is it?
Chorus: Medea pulls out a gun to shoot them.
Colin child one: mom what are you doing?
Cody child two: No please mommy I’m sorry …… I love you ( tears stream down his cheeks)
Chorus: With two quick shots both children are dead. She drags them out of the house leaving a trail of blood behind her.
Scene Six
(Medea pulls them off stage)
(she then looks at her plan again)
Chorus: She views her plan. Then goes to Jason’s house to fulfill her sick sadistic fantasy.
Jason: What do you want? After your big scene yesterday you have to leave and you’re not welcome here again unless you would enjoy death.
Medea: ( fake worried look) Oh well while we are on the subject of death (A sick crazed smile flashes across her face) Your new wife, I don’t like.
SW: Jason what is she doing here ( Looks into Medea’s eyes then looks at Jason scared)
Jason : Don’t worry she was just leaving weren’t you Medea? (raises his eye brow)
Medea: No not quite yet
Chorus: Medea forces her way through the door
SW: Get out of my house
Medea: Not yet (pulls the gun very quickly and fires) BANG
Chorus: Jason’s second wife has been murdered. Her body lays limp and lifeless.
(Jason falls to his knees)
Jason: No, How could you (stutters) I loved her
Medea: (mocking) That’s my problem because? I loved you and you left me for that thing.
Jason: I’m sorry
Medea: So sorry that you came to visit? So sorry that you thought about me? So sorry that you thought about the kids?
Jason: Look I was going to come see the ya’ll I still love you and the kids.
Medea: Really?
Jason: Yes I was
Medea: (starts to smile at him then goes into a stern look) NO, you weren’t but hey don’t worry about it. There are no more kids.
Jason: WHAT?
Medea: Yeah I killed them too. (shrugs her shoulders) Now its your turn to die.
Chorus: Medea holds up the gun with the pure intention of killing him. Over whelmed by her deep love she still felt for Jason. She falls to the floor and cried. Jason was not murdered. Medea took the gun and held it towards her own head
