speaking of MLK...

Riding in the car with Steph this weekend, something was brought up about how we wished we would've sat down with grandma and asked her stories about the family before she died. But when you're young, you don't really think about your grandparents not always being there and you're also not really interested in genealogy.  I mentioned something about how the only time I really remember talking to her about stuff was when she pulled out a red velvet photo album once and started to go through it...apparently, Steph "stole" it from the house when we were getting ready to sell everything. What she said happened was that she asked mom what would be done with it, mom told her we would probably sell it, and instead of thinking that all mom meant would be sold was the album, and not the pictures inside of it, Steph ganked it and took it home with her.  She then made me promise I wouldn't say anything to mom about it for fear of her getting mad and/or taking it away from her and pulled it out when we got back to her place so I could look through it. Some of the pics were printed on tin, which I thought was really cool...I have no clue who anyone in the album is, but I assume that it's my grandfather's side of the family as some of the men in there looked like him, and the date and location for the photographer who took most of the pics fits with where his family would've been at the time...however in looking through, I noticed a couple of pictures of one man, and one picture each of two girls who were obviously either light skinned or mixed...which makes me quite curious and very annoyed that I can't ask mom about whether or not I have black relatives floating around somewhere...
