Lois McMaster Bujold. Cordelias Honor (and the Vorkosigan series in general after that)...DONT read the dustjacket.. it makes it sound like a cheap bad 'victorians in space' romance novel... Its not.

Plot synopsis: A scout ship captain from a socially and technologically advanced society is thrown together with a man from a society that had been cut off from galactic civilization, fallen back into barbarism and has just recently emerged among the space faring races... a romance that changes wars and worlds ensues... dealing deeply with sexuality, gender, motherhood, women in repressed societies and the process of social change, generational differences, biology and society.. *everything*.. its THOUGHTFUL , and also a good read. I'll bring my copy next week :)

Yah.. I have and have had some friends who .. having had lots of bad and painful experiences embrace the sort of feminism that really doesnt allow room for love or sex or romance.. I imagine its a healthy reaction in some ways and I know its going to sound condescending when i say 'necessary phase' thats hopefully *incorporated* into a more balanced healthy and fulfilling outlook on life that lets humans be humans.. admits our foibles and lets us enjoy them without losing site of the changes we want to make from the way things have been...
