She asked for something taking place inside Silent Hill, since I started watching playthroughs on YouTube this summer. I was like 'FUUU WHAT THE HELL SO MANY OPTIONS' so I cheated and just sort of kind of novelized the very first cutscene of Silent Hill 3. *is lame like that*

The darkness begins.

The Dream

Heather Mason is dreaming.

She doesn’t know she’s dreaming. She just knows that she’s in a fucked up place that looks like it’s wearing the dead rotting skin of an amusement park as a coat. The floor beneath her boots is metallic and rusting, giving away occasionally into rust-weakened grates that reveal nothing but blackness beneath.

To her right, a giant pink rabbit sits on a bench, staring unblinkingly at her, red smeared around its mouth as though it had been gorging itself on blood fairly recently. Farther away, an exact replica of it stares into the endless black slate of a sky, lying on its back.

Her flashlight (she somehow knows it is hers) beams from her chest pocket into the patches of darkness the park’s street lamp does not light.

There is no sound but her breathing.

“Where am I?” she asks herself. She wasn’t one for talking to herself, but it was better than simply listening to her own breathing, that inhale-exhale rhythm.

She is suddenly aware of coldness in her hand, and looks down to see that there is the reassuring weight of a knife handle within her fingers. Had that always been there? Yes. No.

The rabbit stares.
