So I’m all moved into university!

Audience: Yayyyy!

Buuuut I’m insanely nervous!

Audience: Awwww D:

What should I do?

Audience: Buhunno.

The answer issss start a clean slate! So I decided to do a belated 2 year anniversary post even though I’m past August 1st by at least a month. What I am doing? Attempting to write short blurbs about all the romantic ships I’ve sailed this year. (Then I will work myself back up to roleplay replies, then back to fic, yay.)

I am splitting them into a) Not My Bad, as in ships that other people came up with/I am not responsible for, and b) Totally My Bad, which are ships that I either came up with or was the first to write.

Part 1: Not My Bad

No Particular Person’s Fault

Roxas/Naminé (KH)
Ahhhh, Roxas/Naminé. As I explained about four billion times in They Call Us Children, I think their relationship is all about balance. Roxas needs something stable in his life after being constantly thrown around by the Organization (I haven’t finished Days still, so forgive me if that is inaccurate) and Naminé needs something that moves about after being kept as a prisoner her entire life. Freedom and stability is what they’re all about.

Demyx/Yuffie (KH)
I need to spend more time with these two, I honestly do. When I think of them, the phrase “Lovers in a Dangerous Time” come up. They’re the two youngest members of their team (or close to it, in Demyx’s case), optimistic and not taken very seriously. I think they’re all about loving who you love no matter what anyone else tells you. It’s naïve of them, yes, but they don’t care.

Kocoum/Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
Poor Kocoum. :c This is one of the couple of one-sided ships I wrote this year. I really like Kocoum, actually. When you go back and watch the movie, I think it’s pretty obvious how much he cares about Pocahontas. I’m pretty sure he flew into the fight with John Smith (that got him killed :’C) because he was so in love with her and he was so hurt and angry. Which is saying a lot, seeing as dude, he’s Kocoum. Quote: “He’s so serious.”

…That somehow ended up as a tiny Kocoum analysis, didn’t it? Whoo, go me!

Saïx/Kairi (KH)
Aaaaaand this is my other… quasi-one-sided thing. Saïx definitely doesn’t have echoes of a romantic interest in Kairi, I don’t think. I think he’d be fascinated by the light in her heart, and if that’d make her a challenge. I think it’s very much a game of cat-and-mouse with a particularly challenging mouse. Aaaand while I remember everyone who read and enjoyed A Dark and Stormy Nightmare should check out the rest of kh_sacredmoon. Super talented writers there.

Lucrecia/Even (FF7+KH)
Okay, this one is partially my fault and partially other people’s faults. I sorta toyed with the idea of Lucrecia/Even in a mentioning of it in a Braig&Dilan piece a while ago (Platonic, for anyone who wants to look it up). But then Trilies and Higenshi started writing really awesome Lucrecia/Vexen. Since my Vexen doesn’t seem to want to talk to me about it, I went to his Somebody.

ANYWAY, I think the attraction is definitely about intellect first. And then I don’t know much about Lucrecia, but I think the two of them would sorta make shy awkward circles around each other, until they collide occasionally in little outbursts of each other’s tempers. I think. Like… satellites or something.

Totally Other People (Trilies’s) Faults

Aeleus/Aeris (KH)
Iiiiii think Aeleus/Aeris issss… a lot about devotion. The two of them fall in love and from there on out, just care about each other and love each other so much they don’t even need to say it to each other. They’re never jealous or suspicious and their love is just very very solid. ♥

Zexion/Tony (KH+Marvel)
Ahhhhh these two. I think thiiiiis one is a lot about being scared. Both Tony and Zexion are like ‘yeah no commitment is not my stronghold’ but Tony’s just sorta like ‘still though, I like you so stick around’ and Zexion’s all like ‘pfft, you’re an idiot, but you are kinda smart and you know what let’s just have really hot sex’. ‘Deal?’ ‘Deal.’

So yeah. Denial and being scared and running in circles only to end up right back where you started. That’s them.

Fuu/Naminé (KH)
I had to ask for help with this one, but in some ways it’s very similar to Roxas/Naminé. Naminé sorta needs someone to encourage and accompany her, and from what I know of Fuu, she’s exceedingly loyal and perfectly willing to do that. And Naminé is willing to give her quiet and peace and stuff like that. Balance again, I think.

Part 2: Totally My Bad

(the stupidity that is) Xigbar/Bella (KH+Twilight)
He flirts creepily. She is attracted to his gold eye ‘cause it reminds her of her abusive boyfriend that she is creepily attached to. He gets creeped out. The end. Let’s never speak of this again.

Luxord/Tifa (KH)
Luxord/Tifa is definitely one of those ships about loneliness and just wanting someone to be there for you. Tifa goes all out looking for Cloud in KH2, and doesn’t ask for help from anybody. It’s gotta be taxing. Theeen I’ve always imagined Luxord’s rather lonely due to the time element (characters with control of time always have an air of loneliness to me, hidden or otherwise). Along comes a beautiful woman with a tendency to hide her passions? Hel-lo there’s a challenge he can take up. And the rest is history.

Lexaeus/Nakoma (KH+Pocahontas)
When I think of Lexaeus/Nakoma, I think of the word ‘simplicity’. I don’t think they ask much of each other. They have a sorta similar dry humour, and just like being around each other, I suppose. They help each other out just because they want to, not because they need to. There’s definitely a mutual fascination there: Lexaeus for Nakoma’s understated sense of care and responsibility and Nakoma for Lexaeus’s strength and resolve. …I think.

Alpha/Rita (Up+Oliver and Company)
This one is also partially Trilies fault, for we are part of many roleplays together. Outside of the roleplay universe where this originated completely, I think this is in a vague way a case of opposites attract. I think Alpha always needs to categorize things into black and white (get it, they’re dogs, a durr :B) extremes: capturing the bird is good, protecting the pack is necessary, etc etc. Rita sees things more in gray: you have to do bad things (stealing) to come out with good results (provide for your family). I think Alpha has a lot to learn from her, and maybe Rita does too. ;)

Adelaide/‘Dante’ (HiNaBN)
{…} is referred to as ‘Dante’ here, because that’s what Adelaide constantly calls him. THIS has gotta be one of my favourites, because their dynamic is so different. Adelaide plays hard to get, but Dante doesn’t necessarily chase her in the first place. At least not in a direct way. It sorta infuriates and fascinates Adelaide that he doesn’t so she keeps coming back, and Dante doesn’t really get it but he’s not really opposed to her either. There’s a lot of confusion in this one, definitely. xD

Xigbar/Mirage/Deadpool (KH+The Incredibles+Marvel)
Ahhhhh this, haha. xD I think these three together are a lot about… constantly supporting each other. I once described them as a triangle, because one side is constantly held up and defending the other two. The three of them simply have each other’s backs. (I will eventually get to writing Xigbar/Deadpool. >> They let me know at the beginning that it would happen eventually, and I had no problem with it. So… keep your eyes open for that.)

Xigbar/Mirage (KH+The Incredibles)
Thiiiiis is a lot about Xigbar breaking through Mirage’s past and pealing back all the disguises and lies she puts up. Can’t really blame her though - in my head, she’s been lying to survive for a very long time. I don’t think either of them expected to become so important to each other. Also, sexy banter and power play. xD That’s what they’re about.

Mirage/Deadpool (The Incredibes+Marvel)
Aaaaand this one is about… I think… being wrong. They met by complete accident (through Xigbar, pretty much). Like Zexion and Tony, they’re scared to care too much about each other, because they’ve never really had anyone there for them, growing up pretty much on their own. Mirage likes to control, and in some ways Deadpool likes to be controlled. They’re a lot about making mistakes and learning from them.
