Cocoa - when did they add the marshmallows?

Another lovely gift to the world from the Americas, although it took a while to transform cocoa from a bitter ceremonial beverage to a pleasant bedtime drink. Whipping up a batch of sweet, foamy, hot cocoa (with just a sprinkle of cinnamon) sounds like a perfect accompaniment to today's offerings. Cheers!
