I'm astounded by how hard I found it to understand your post -- I'm just so not used to the jargon. K has a theory as to whom your loose cannon may have been. Physical description?
Sorry about the jargon. I was trying to get it out before I went to bed. Plus, it's so long as it is, it would take longer if I seriously tried to explain. I'm happy to try if you like.
AQo means ace, queen offsuit (different suits). AAKhh means ace king, two hearts. I should have said AxAhKh, which means ace and king of hearts, and ace of I-don't-remember-or-care. Broadway means the big straight, AKQJT; it is the best possible straight. The bit about Diagon Alley is a joke. Perhaps it is not funny. AKs means ace-king suited, that is, the same suit; it can also mean ace and king of spades, but usually doesn't.
Loose cannon was an Asian guy, 30s. American accent. Short hair. I pegged him as a salesman given his attire. He was up a lot and having a great time.
Oh, I did enjoy it, if only because of the learning experience. And it wasn't the hand descriptions that confused me -- it was some of the surrounding terminology: BBJ, nuts, jam, cutoff, flopped boat, muck, "pots are killed". When I started, "the requirements to hit the BBJ drops to any aces-full-of-jacks beat by quads" meant nothing. Now I think I understand almost all of it. Wikipedia is my friend. "1-2-2, 5-to-go" is the only bit I don't get, but I can tell it also isn't central to the story.
And, sadly, that's not the loose cannon K predicted.
Having studied enough to get this far, I at least understand why it was an interesting night.
