Summary: Sequel to Crime of Passion. Jensen's struggling to deal with the after math of his kidnapping and the death of his husband. He quickly learns that all is not how it seems when Jeff shows up at his doorstep. The problem is that no one else seems to believe that Jeff is still alive. With all of that on his plate, he finds out something about Jared that will change his life forever. Can he survive it all?

“Padalecki?” Jensen repeated.

“Yeah,” the boy said staring down at his feet.

“Is,” Jensen swallowed. “Is Jared Padalecki your father?”

The boy didn’t respond.

“What are your parents’ names?” Jensen tried.

“I’m not supposed to talk about that,” the boy answered.

“Why not?”

The boy started to sob. “He’ll hurt me,” he cried.

“Oh baby,” Jensen cuddled him up against his chest. “Don’t cry. It’s okay. I’m here,” he soothed, rocking the boy back and forth. Dean always liked this when he was upset. “No one will ever hurt you again.”

“Promise?” watery hazel eyes stared up to him.

“I promise,” Jensen said, praying to god that he could keep this promise.

“Can I sleep with you?”

“Of course you can,” Jensen said kissing the top of his head.

After making sure both boys were sound asleep Jensen crept out of his bedroom and knocked on Chris’s door.

“Yeah,” the word was muffled with sleep.

“We need to talk,” Jensen answered. He waited a few seconds as he could hear the heavy sounds of footsteps. The door creaked open.

“About what?”

“Nate,” the word was said softly.

“Is he yours?” Chris said quickly without thinking.

“No,” Jensen snapped. “Dean is my only child. Why do you keep thinking otherwise?”

“Jen,” Chris started. “I think Nate had something to do with you.”

“Damn right he does!” Jensen responded. “He’s Jared’s kid.”

“What?” Chris yelled. Jensen shushed him instantly. “What?” Chris said softer.

“He told me his last name was Padalecki.”

“Oh shit,” Chris said in shock sitting down.

“I want to keep him,” Jensen said sitting down next to him.

“What?” Chris snapped.

“Can you say anything but what?” Jensen teased.

“Jen,” Chris said ignoring the question. “You can’t be serious.”

“I’m dead serious. He has no home, no family. He’s only five, Chris. He needs someone to love him and take care of him.”

“They will never let you have him,” Chris started.

“I know!” Jensen said interrupting him. “But they’ll let you.”

“I’m not adopting Padalecki’s kid,” Chris said.

“Please,” Jensen begged. “He needs me! He needs us!”

“Have you considered going home yet?” Chris asked changing the subject.

Jensen looked hurt. “You don’t want me here?”

“It’s not that-“

“I lost my apartment,” Jensen said. “I have nowhere to go.”

“Jen-“

“I couldn’t pay the rent.”

“I didn’t mean that. I just thought you would want to go home. I thought you would want to go to that boyfriend of yours,” Chris said rubbing Jensen’s shoulders.

“It’s complicated with Misha,” Jensen said.

“You haven’t talked to him.” It was a statement not a question. “He’d want to know about the baby.” He put his hand on Jensen’s stomach.

“There is no baby!” Jensen cried pushing Chris’s hand off. “I’m not pregnant!”

Chris lifted Jensen’s shirt revealing a small bump. “That looks pregnant to me.”

“I may have gained a little bit of weight-“

“Take a test,” Chris said. “Prove me wrong.”

“If I take this test, will you promise to take in Nate?”

“I’ll think about it.”

“Yes or no,” Jensen demanded.

“Alright, take the test and I’ll take him in. But you are doing all the childcare stuff,” Chris grumbled.

“Thank you!” Jensen cried. Without thinking he grabbed Chris’s face and kissed him. They both froze in shock.

“Jen,” Chris started.

“Oh god! I’m so sorry! I was just so excited. I’m so sorry,” Jensen babbled.

“Jen, it’s okay,” Chris said flustered. He wanted to do that again. He just didn’t want to upset him further. “Go take the test.”

“You have one?” Jensen asked.

“I bought one when your morning sickness started,” Chris said.

Jensen took a deep breath. “Okay, let’s do this.”

Jensen sat with Chris in the bathroom. Chris kept checking the time, but Jensen barely moved or spoke.

“What are you going to do if it’s positive?” Chris asked.

“It’s not going to be,” Jensen answered.

“Jen,” Chris put his hand on Jensen’s belly. “This feels pregnant.”

“I’ve been pregnant before,” Jensen said sternly. “I know what it feels like.”

“Jensen, just answer the question,” Chris sighed.

“I don’t know,” Jensen answered. “I just can’t have Jeff’s baby again.”

“Jeff’s dead,” Chris answered. “He couldn’t have fathered this baby.”

“I thought you were with me on this,” Jensen looked pleadingly at Chris.

“Jen,” Chris stated. “I just don’t know. I’m not going to say he is alive, but I just don’t know.”

“If I’m pregnant, he is the father,” Jensen said. “We didn’t use a condom.”

“What about your boyfriend?” Chris asked.

“We always use protection,” Jensen answered.

The timer started beeping. Jensen got up and looked at the test. His face remained neutral.

“Jen?” Chris said watching every movement.

“I want an abortion.”
