i have some new friends, and some people who wander over from comms, so i thought i'd post the first little bit from my
intro post (which is a sticky post at the top of my LJ):I'm a huge fan of Supernatural, and Jensen Ackles. I love everything related to the show, and that includes most aspects of the show, including but not limited to: Sam, the Metallicar, the music, Jess, Missouri, Cassie, Ellen, Jo, the Roadhouse, Bobby, Ruby, Bela and various others. Not John, not Wincest. hey, we all have our issues, right? an aside here: i don't mind if my friends read or like Wincest. i'm just not a fan of it, and would rather not have it in my LJ - comments, icons, whatever. thanks. and no hard-core J2 stuff either, kthnx.
bottom line - i like the girls, i like everything. no harshing on my squee in here. :D
some additional thoughts brought on by a comment somewhere about some things we saw in The Magnificient Seven: more Storytelling:
i've seen people wonder where the stakes Tamara was using, or the knife Ruby used, where they came from? there should be more of these artifacts and supernatural weapons in this season - so how come we never saw them before now?
Storytelling.
who's read Harry Potter? it's third person limited - you could replace Harry with "I" and make it first person from Harry's POV and still have the same story.
Supernatural is third person limited - from Sam and Dean's POV. John kept them away from other hunters, away from the Roadhouse, Ellen, Gordon - and probably told Bobby, Caleb and the other precious few people he trusted not to tell Dean and Sam too much.
in S2, they're shocked to find out about the Roadhouse, and Dean marvels over Gordon's toys. they're encountering other hunters and a network they never even knew existed before. now, in S3, they're meeting more hunters - some who aren't too happy with them - and they're on the run from the law.
as in any good journey story, they'll meet people along the way who want to help them, and some who want to take advantage of their sheltered life. i'm sure there will be more ways to kill the demons than we know about now. they're not necessarily plot devices, just things neither Sam or Dean has seen before. same goes for all the different people they might meet along the road as well.
