back a bit ago, i started rewatching First Wave (my instagram says 9 weeks ago). i still have my FW pages up (on google sites), and some of those are quotes pages. there were 3 seasons of FW, and i have quotes from all the episodes in s1 and s3... but only had half of s2... and i have no idea why i stopped mid-s2! anyway, i've watched a few

I will admit I haven't watched the final US season yet

so...the UK vamp is played by an Aidan and the US vamp is named Aidan. huh.
yeah, still not sure i want to watch the US version....

The US vampire was deliberately named after Aidan Turner. I'm not sure the exact timeline, but I know the US version was green lit around the time Aidan Turner was leaving the UK series so the US producers knew not only that their vampire needed to be different from Mitchell, but that they should do something to acknowledge why it was important to make him different. I avoided watching the UK version for a long time because of some spoilers I got exposed to about it, but I got right into and mostly enjoyed the US version of the show. Having finally watched some of the UK version I have to say I like both shows pretty equally, but I prefer Russell Tovey's George to Sam Huntington's Josh. Of course while I watched all of the US version, I've never finished the third season of the UK version.

i plan on watching all of the UK version (as of now) but because some of the spoilers i know, one friend stopped after the S3 finale, one stopped after the S4 opener. so we shall see.

Figured you might appreciate that. ;) Hearing about the how and why of the US vampire's naming is part of what got me interested in the US series to begin with.
i'll put the US version on my netflix watch queue, but i'll check it out maybe after a few other shows.
It isn't entirely fair to call it the US version. I mean it was produced for SyFy, but it was produced by a Canadian company and aired in Canada as well as the US. Unlike Forever Knight where the city was "Torago," the city for the US Being Human in "Monston" (Montreal passing for Boston). One of the things that amused me watching the US version was that it was the second TV series I saw Kyle Schmid play a vampire in. He was Henry Fitzroy in the TV version of Tanya Huff's Blood Books, and he plays one of the secondary vampire characters in the US Being Human.

it is interesting, yes. =)

i have yet to see him as a vamp, actually
I'm guessing that spoiler that caused your friend to stop after the S3 finale is the reason I haven't watched S3 to the end.
it's quite possible.

Ah. I really loved him as Henry, even if he wasn't as short or redheaded as someone playing Henry should be. I had a friend who preferred the actor who played Mike on the show. Some of the back and forth between Henry and Mike in it seemed slashier than any in the books. I liked that. >:)

BH:UK vamps are all "drink blood and have sex," they seem wimpy to other vamp mythoses i've watched and read.

The vamps are slightly different and of course Mark Pelligrino is brilliant. Blood and sex is still a thing of course.
Like I said, once they got past the similar storylines it was better.

well, now i have to watch it if Lucifer is in it!!
i mean the BH:UK vamps don't seem to have super-human strength, speed... compulsion/hypnosis... and they don't seem to be nocturnal, and they're out in the daytime, no real reason given (yet. i'm up to 2x07 as of right now.)

Not sure about the compulsion thing. Looks like I need to do a rewatch of BH UK
