Philly ComicCon!!
it starts thursday... and me and the girls are going on saturday!! let's see - me, J, M, M's friends I; we're meeing Bodge and another friend there. we might be sharing the train ride with another J from my Stitch-n-Bitch group... and maybe some others!
the ComicCon idea started back at the beginning of the year or so, when M tells me she's really like to go to San Diego ComicCon. i told her i'd like to, too; and Dragon*Con as well. but, SDCC is all the way across the country for us, and i thought there was a ComicCon type Con here in Philly, Wizard World, or something like that.
so i looked it up. and yes, it was Wizard World, but it's now Wizard World ComicCon! and it was in June, so when she'd first mentioned it, it was something in reach. listed on the site for the guests were Sean Astin and Karl Urban - both from Lord of the Rings; and M is all about Tolkien these days!
and now that ComicCon is only days away, Karl Urban won't be there... but plenty of others will.
we first planned to go on the Sunday of ComicCon. and then one evening i was randomly double checking the train sites, and clicked on the ComicCon site to make sure i had the right destination, and there in the flash header of the guests, was Nathan Fillion! i texted the girls right then that we were going to go on Saturday instead.
so now.... we have our tickets; we'll be getting the ticket for a photo-op, the girls want one with Sean Astin! =)
who's going to be there? this is who i'd like to meet or listen to at some point in the day: Nathan Fillion, David Boreanaz, Sean Astin, Matt Smith (but that would probably be a crazy random happenstance), Christopher Lloyd, Evan Peters, Lauren Cohan, Alan Tudyk, James Marsters, Curtis Armstrong, & Sebastian Stan. whew!
how many of them will i actually see? well.... here's what a preliminary look through the schedule looks like for me:
9:08 train - train stops at Market East, which is like only a block or two away from the Convention Center. there's even direct access to the Convention Center from the station - and SEPTA regional rail is up and running again! yaay!
10 a - ComicCon!!
12 n - Sean Astin Panel
2 p.m. - David Boreanaz Panel
2:30 - Sean Astin photo op for my daughters
3 p.m. - Firefly Panel (Nathan and Alan)
4:30 p.m. - Vampire Lore Panel
there's an item on the schedule for a Firefly YogaQuest session that the girls thought sounded interesting... i do too, but the end overlaps the start of David Boreanaz's panel. we shall see, right?
so... i'll be there, wearing my Red Guard t-shirt and have a dragon on my backpack. the girls will be wearing Hobbity style dresses (depending if M wants to wear her Galadriel-style dress. if she doesn't wear it, her friend will.)
we can't wait!!
