*got a card over the weekend from
cowboyangel! thanks! i would have posted it over the weekend, but no one would have seen it.
*went to my aunt's for Chanukah on the 17th. Chanukah doesn't start until Tuesday night, so my mom sent home packages for the girls for tuesday, wednesday and thursday night. M wanted to open them all saturday night. heh.
*Yule/Solstice is early thursday morning. we'll celebrate that hopefully wednesday night. (J has a concert, and hopefully we won't be home tooo late, and then the girls can open what's under the Yule tree. yep. it's a Yule tree.)
*we're going to my inlaws in the afternoon of the 25th for more family time and gifts. =)
*someone somewhere that i can't remember asked if my girls still believed in Santa Claus. they're 14 and 10. i was wondering, how the heck do i ask them that?? anyway, i found a way to ask - each of them had brought up xmas and Santa in some way or another, and i asked what their opinion was. J said that she figured it out when presents labeled "from Santa" looked suspiciously like B's mom's hand writing, and M kinda figured out the same thing as well. so do they believe in the guy who wears a red suit and gives presents to good kids on xmas eve all over the world? nope. but do they believe in the concept of Santa, and love and family and giving and charitable, good acts? you bet they do.
*back in April (or something like that) we got cable internet, and therefore did away with our DSL and phone line, and our landline. the girls now shared a cell phone - Dino-phone, as they lovingly called the two-year old flip phone. at the beginning of November, J went away for a weekend, and M didn't have a phone now. this last week, J stayed after school where she worked on shift crew for the school musical, and M still didn't have a phone. so, at B's suggestion for the girls' ChanaYuleMas present, friday i picked up two new phones: we upgraded Dino-phone for J, and got M her own line! J was much happier at the fact she now has her own phone again. M's phone looks just like mine.
*over on Facebook, i wished everyone "have a happy, a merry and blessed ChanaYuleMas! =)" a friend i'd known from back in high school had this to comment: "and you went to Gratz for HOW many years?" (Gratz was the Hebrew High School i went to from 8th-12th grade.) i had a few replies going through my head, ranging from just answering it (5) to snarky (you mean you didn't read my wall with all the Pagan items on it after you friended me??) and finally settled on "what's *that* got to do with anything? ;)" and was shaking my head, as it was obvious she didn't look at my profile with all the Pagan items on it, or my Info page, where my religion is clearly listed as UU. (in fact, when she friended me back, she wasn't entirely sure it was me... even though my maiden name is on my profile page.... so i guess having not been in contact with someone for the last 20+ years means everything you know about them is still the same?)
