yesterday was mine and B's anniversary! =) we went to the NASCAR race at Dover.
for the past few years, B's mom would get him and his brother S tickets to go see the race at Dover. this year it turned out to be on Oct. 2. and then about a week and a half or so ago, S called to say he couldn't go. i went instead, and Aunt
yumemitai came over in the afternoon to stay with the girls. (and they had a silly dinner at Friendly's. heh.)
it was COLD at the track, and looked like it wanted to rain all day. (it was drizzling a little bit on and off while we were there, too.) like my Dad said about 17-1/2 to 18 years ago, it's hard to plan for outdoor things in October cause the weather's all screwy. (i wanted an outdoor wedding. would it be hot? chilly? who knew?..... until that day. kinda hard to change my wedding dress then, eh? anyway, we had it inside a nice hotel.)
but i had fun, even though we were shivering. our seats were in Turn 1, and B figured we were about 50ish feet up. in the past (like 15 years ago) i'd gone to races at Pocono. the track there is like 2-1/2 miles and it's a rather large place. but Dover is small - the track is a mile long, concrete surface... and LOUD. we were wearing earplugs. they helped cut out some of the noise, but yeah, it was still loud there. afterwards, we decided that it would be crazy loud at the Bristol, TN track... that's just a hair over a half-mile (0.533 miles).
and of course, i took some pictures. you can see the clouds in them. 1-4 were taken near the beginning of the race, 5-7 were closer to the end (these show the size of the track), and the 8-9 were shortly after 5-7. so here's my
9 pics from Dover:

you can see the banking on the track in this pic..... i was trying to get a good picture to show how steep it is.
