Comparisons

i was thinking about this after last week's Supernatural episode. the scenes with clearing the cobwebs away from the people's faces reminded me of something else i'd seen - maybe it was the XFiles, i can't remember. but it's what i do - compare what i watch and read to other things i've seen and read.

i didn't watch Firefly when it aired - other than it being on Fox, or at a bad time of night (8 p.m.?) - i'm not sure why i didn't watch it, but i did get around to borrowing the DVDs from my library the summer of 2006 and started watching. i called it a AndromedaFarscape Western, and compared Firefly to shows i'd already seen (Andromeda and Farscape. heh.) when i got to suggesting that Vera = Winona, someone told me to stop comparing things.

but that's just what i do. i called the last two seasons of SG1 "Fargate SG1." i called Andromeda "Hercules in Space." i've compared Supernatural to First Wave; and Moonlight to Forever Knight. and yes, i have compared books to the tv show or movie (Vampire Diaries, Harry Potter), even when you can't really compare them. the good news, of course, is that with my Swiss Cheese Memory™, i end up forgetting most of the little itty bitty details... but there are those i do remember.

i hope all that makes sense, and it was just something on my mind that i wanted to post.
