i'd seen a review of sure, Sam's name is in the title but it still focused on Dean, Dean's issues, Dean's inner demons, that even though Sam's name was in the title it was still all about Dean in the end.
i beg to differ.
let's start with Dean. he's co-dependent on Sam. he cannot function without Sam. he's never been on his own - he's either hunted with Dad - or Sam.
He made that deal with the Crossroads Demon in 2x22 because HE couldn't live without Sam. during Mystery Spot, and flashbacks in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Sam was active, hunting, tracking the trickster, or finding some way to bring Dean back. what did Dean do in All Hell Breaks Loose II? Sat and watched (and ranted at) Sam's body, then made the deal.
Dean brought Sam back because Dean couldn't bear to be alone. he can not function without Sam.
he's tried to protect Sam from going darkside - Sam even told him to kill him if he did. Dean can't. he can NOT live without Sam.
Dean felt betrayed when Sam learned to use his powers from Ruby, but i don't think the underlying reason was she was a Demon. i think it was because Dean didn't have SAM.
Sam is Dean's crutch, Dean's reason to get up and keep going, saving people, saving Sam.
so it really IS All About Sam.
