I'm sending this letter to Kia in the next few days... without the Omissions

Hello Kia,
This letter is intended to any and all employees of Kia and their resellers. Please pass it on however you like. I’m addressing this to all of you.

My name is Nicol and I purchased a 2005 Kia Spectra from Gunther Kia in Fort Lauderdale after my Honda Civic gave up the ghost. She was new when I bought her and she has served me well these 6.5 years. With good maintenance she’s stood up longer than most of the other cars I’ve seen my friends and family use. I was intending to keep driving, maintaining, and enjoying my Spectra till she was done and ready to go to “shattered engine block” or “broken transmission” heaven. She had a high safety rating, she had the best warranty, and a great price compared to similar cars on the market at the time.

On Thursday August 11th at 9:05 PM I was traveling through a green light at an intersection and a 17 year old boy in his father’s ’97 Ford F150 ran the red light and plowed through and over my car. Thanks to the good safety and quality that your company put into that car, I survived with only scratches and bruises. The scratches came from flying glass, and the bruises came from the seatbelt.

This letter is intended to thank you for creating a great product. If I was driving an inferior car, I’m not sure I would have survived. My poor Spectra sacrificed herself for my safety. I’m including pictures of her with this letter.

My Spectra was a very pretty and sturdy car. It served as a workhorse for myself and my household. She never let me down. I’ve already been telling almost everyone I know that I wish to purchase another Kia. I’ve been encouraging people to look into buying one when their next car purchase comes along.

It seems so tragic that after my Spectra was declared a total loss that most insurance companies would just give her blue-book value for her when this car was so much more than “Good” at 120k miles. She starred in a commercial for a Headlamp Restoration product on the Monday before the crash. (http://youtu.be/3mXKTnfBW5s) I will miss her.

Again, thank you for doing such a good job with your cars, you should keep it up.

With high regards,
Nicol
