Happy...

Me and Amelia, we've just knocked fifteen minutes off our personal best, Penrith-Edinburgh door to door. There were three cars betweeen the M6 and Hawick and... maybe fifteen or so after?

Early on Sunday morning is clearly the way to travel.

No reason for this post at all. It's just a I love my bikes moment.

Darlin, that's just the bees knees! I love that drive and miss the A7 like blazes - want to swap for the M25?

Rhetorical question? I haven't been round the M25 since... 1999? Mind you, miss London drivers in town. Edinburgh people always have this slightly shocked look when bikes slide past them...

Have now got blue screen of doom on big PC, sucked it up and bought XP pro. Arives Wed. Internet access v. dodgy until then...

You obviously had better weather than we had at Perth. Lashed it down on the way home.

Haven't been to Penrith in years. Believe there's some nice hogbacks in one of the churches there. Would make a change from the 18thC gravestones I keep photographing...

Penrith's actually okay. Some lovely places roundabouts, too. But yeah, rain kicked in ten mins south of Ikea, 10.15ish - much better South than North.

Why Perth on a Sunday? - and oh, Aberdeen for gravestones! I even have a map, I'll see if I can pull it out for M...

Abercon for gravestones! - even if some of them are badly sunken. Lots of carvings of crowns and rakes besides the usual 'memento mori' and the hourglasses.

Perth was actually Stobhall, on the banks of the Tay. Chapel, Folly (c 1985 so contemporary) and Dower House. Excellent painted panel ceiling in the chapel - how many other places can claim to have a drawing of Prester John on their roof?

Oh wow. Stobhall sounds fantastic. (*1985* folly?) What's the Prester John connection? When does it date to?
