There's a whole meta post here about being English, white, non-Hindi speaking and writing Bollywood, a culture which is itself not Indian or western Asian but something entirely itself: About writing American and English Asian culture as seen through a lens of Mumbai-based film-making. About worrying about writing Bollywood when not worrying about writing America - am I really concerned about my own perception of writing a culture to which I don't belong simply because the people involved speak a different language and have different colour skin? Why should there be any difference? Why should be I unconcerned about spn - ladies, I'm planning for SPN Big Bang this year (blame
q_i ) - and unsure about the appropriation of culture I've done here? Do I still feel guilty about the Empire, about the racism that Asian people in the UK still face? Why should that have anything to do with a story I ... just wanted to write? (And let's face it, maybe six people will read.)

It's just story-telling. I have no answers. But I'm still thinking.
