LOTR has just heard that the archive LOTRfanfiction has been sold to a gentleman called Keith Mander. His personal blog is not reassuring on the subject of making money from non-profit content - esteliel , here on DW, explains the situation far better than I could.
OTW has issued a statement here on the whole situation.
Frankly, personally, I haven't been the biggest OTW fan - nothing to do with OTW's admirable and definitely fannish aims, simply that I'm much happier on my own than in groups. But when it comes to something like this, I'm suddenly awfully glad we've got an organisation behind us that's ours. I'm actually really surprised at how angry I feel.
