I included 'Diamonds and Gold' by Tom Waits because in the movie, Ryan's character kills himself while listening to 'Dead and Lovely.' I changed it to 'Diamonds and Gold' because of the meaning to rl Ryan, who has lyrics from the song tattooed on his wrists.
The inclusion of 'I'm Afraid of Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolfe' by Murder by Death is nothing but shameless promotion. I love this band so much and they are super involved with bandom bands, and wanted to spread their sound!
Finally, I put a lot of consideration as to which Fall Out Boy song to include. Int the film, Pete's character has a tape of his old band's song called 'Through the Roof and Underground.' I wanted a FOB song that rivaled Gogol Bordelo's, and finally settled 'Of All the Gin Joints in the World.'
