Justine- Yes, it does mean love, more specifically, it means "love me". Meleme is love, and the suffix "-n" gives it a reflexive property. Actually I made a typo too in the inclusion of the diaeresis over the final "e", which normally only occurs when the last letter is an "e", but i left it over from the infinitive version. As far as conflicting with your book, I doubt your book is the authority on the Tolkein languages, even if it was written by Christoper Tolkein. Much of what he did was just compile and edit his father's notes. There are other linguists who have studied the languages of Quenya and Sindarin much more in depth. His father changed the language of Quenya and Sindarin multiple times as well, your book may have the "Qenya", or older pre-LOTR, word.
