The Streets of Cairo

Jun 07, 2009 09:48

Sigh. If I have to look at one more picture of Arab children digging through or living in rubbish.... (Blog author apoplectic)

The Shawki clan and many of their neighbors in a cliffside neighborhood of Cairo survive by collecting garbage. They also raised pigs until the government ordered 300,000 swine killed amid concerns - now dismissed - that the animals spread the epidemic. (Asmaa Waguih for The Los Angeles Times)."

Yeah, one more cost of that man-made bio-weapon.

But it gets worse:

"Women kneel in piles of trash outside their homes, their hands smeared; their tunics, embroidered with beads, somehow stay clean. They seem not to notice the flies, spinning in funnels around them, as tides of trash wash in to be divvied, recycled, or burned."

That's an ALLY and we are SCOLDING "Taliban" and the like?  Trillions for wars and bank bailouts, and yet.... ??

And have you ever wondered where certain images and stereotypes originate, especially here in America and why certain (perverted) things are either scrubbed or rewritten for American consumption.

Ah, forget the Zionist influence on the culture for a bit; I'd rather you look HERE to see the BEAUTY of CAIRO!

Hey, don't believe in me, trust the cat:

And you know what?

It's not just the Arab or Muslim kid:

Streams of raw sewage flowing near homes such as the one above are among the problems the money would help combat (Philimon Bulawayo/ Reuters)."

Ah. I'm not gonna get all mushy on you now.  I know what I see above and what I care about in this world -- although it's getting harder to see through the tears!
