Unfold: Friendship

One of my oldest, dearest friends and I were having a conversation about friendship and what it meant. He was saying to me about how he thought that since he and several other of his friends would be going in separate ways, they would no longer be able to be close and still be friends. I told him that friendship doesn't mean that people stop being friends when people start not living close to together. That friendship doesn't mean there has to be a constant connection with people. People are friends when they can talk and remain close after being away. While I was doing the spring semester this year, I hardly talked to anyone out of my family because I was just so busy, I didn't have time to do most of the things I wanted to do or talk to the people that I cared about talking to. But, when the summer rolled back around I talked to people that I wanted to talk to and resumed the friendship like it had never had a break. Friendship doesn't matter about time or distance, it only matters that you care about each other, not in the fruit-y kinda way, but like how you care about a brother or sister. I know that in some relationships there is a sort of required closeness like in a love. But real friendship doesn't need that kind of physical relationship, it needs nothing but an emotional connection. Without strong bonds as that it is merely just an acquaintance. Somebody that you knew for a time, but don't know now and don't really care to know. Confidence is another aspect of friendship, really maybe one of the biggest, because if you don't have confidence in the other person, what do you have? If somebody is your good friend you should have to confidence to tell them things that you might en not say to somebody that you barely knew. That is a top tier of a relationship is that trust that you can have, to know that you are safe to say what you want and how you feel and not get ridiculed but to get someone that listens and someone that can give you advice on anything that you might want to talk about and be honest about what they say.

Friendship- Tenacious D

Friendship is rare,
Do you know what I'm sayin' to you?
Friendship is rare.
My derriere,
When you find out much later
That they don't really care.
It's rare to me, can't you see?
It's rare to me, can't you see?

Oh shit there's a bear,
Could you hand me that shotgun buddy,
Also that chair?
We're fighting a bear
Now your life's in grave danger
And you don't even care.
It's rare to me, can't you see?
It's rare to me, can't you see?
It's rare to me,
Say a prayer for me,
'Cause it's rare to be
In Tenacious D.

Friends will be friends
They're running naked in the sand,
Friends holding hands
Will someday surely form a band,
Friends will be friends
They say that friends are friends
To the bitter end.
Long-as-there's-a-record-deal-we'll-always-be-friends!
Long-as-there's-a-record-deal-we'll-always-be-friends!

Friends will be friends
They're running naked in the sand,
Friends holding hands
Will someday surely form a band,
Friends will be friends
They say that friends are friends
To the bitter end.
Long-as-there's-a-record-deal-we'll-always-be-friends!
Long as there's a record deal we'll always be friends, yeah

This is part one of two things I wanted to write.

Peace for a moment,

Gavin
