File 06 - The Crown of Themis Case [Timestamp is 1:13 AM] [Voice Forever~]
[And listen as Naoto sighs to himself, the sound of liquid being poured into a glass can be heard faintly in the background.]
Disaster. The case was a complete and utter disaster. [He sounds rather melancholy.] The Task Force was of no help, as everyone had assured me. Kid arrived at exactly midnight, as promised in his heist note, and took all of eight minutes and twenty two seconds to make his escape with the Crown of Themis in hand.
[Loud gulping. Naoto is drinking something. The sound of a glass thumping down on a wooden surface.]
[Angrily.] I had him! I had him cornered, and I let him slip right through my fingers! [Sound of pouring liquid once more.] He made me look like a fool in front of everyone, in front of Hakuba... [A sigh, followed by a gulp, and the glass thumps down again.]
[There is a long pause. Naoto's voice is soft and strained.] I messed up. I broke a very important rule in police work: never leave your partner behind. I went off on my own to chase Kid, and I let him get away. I promised Hakuba that I would follow his instructions, and I disobeyed him, against my better judgment.
[Sound of pouring liquid.] I've never failed this badly during any of my cases. Never. This setback has given me pause, time to reflect on my skills and accomplishments.
[So softly, as to be barely audible.] Maybe... I'm not as good as I thought?
[Another gulp. The glass slams down, harder this time. Then the feed cuts out.]
