[Emma, the smaller cat, is now twining around Al's ankles and meowing happily. Sophie, the mama cat, is... still sleeping by the hearth.]

Oh, Emma... [Naoto laughs, kneeling down to pet the kitty on the head.] Please don't go getting yourself tangled in the tinsel again this year, all right?

They've really taken a liking to you, you know? Since the first moment they laid eyes on you. Emma's always been rather friendly, but Sophie? She's usually skittish around strangers. But not you. She warmed up to you right away. [smiles] I guess you really do have a way with cats, don't you?

I'm glad. People are usually afraid of me, because of the armor, but cats often know better.

People have always said that animals have a sixth sense about these things. [She grinned.] And I've never thought you were scary. A little over-sized, yes, and perhaps a bit intimidating at times, but scary? No, not at all.

[Kitty is now very comfortably settled in Al's lap. She's content to close her eyes and let Al pet her to his heart's content.]

Looks like we'll have to hold off on putting the star on the tree. Maybe this would be a good opportunity for Winry and I to put the lights on. Since the kitties are now properly distracted...

I don't mean to be intimidating... [as evidenced by the fact that he... won't move to disturb the cat. He settles cross-legged, so she can settle on his loin cloth. It's gotta be more comfortable than hard metal, right? Although he holds the heat from the fire really well...]

[Ah, if only Holmes and Watson were still around... They enjoyed curling up next to Alphonse, too.]
