[Naoto is seated at her work bench in her workshop/laboratory/atelier busily working on some silver jewelry. She's wearing goggles with magnifying lenses, apparently engraving something on the inside of a man's silver ring. Several other pieces are strewn about on her workspace, such as a skull ring, a skull pendant, some ear cuffs, and a few ( Read more... )

I'm sure that Kanji would appreciate this.

[Naoto's looking around for a moment, bewildered. Then she notices the camera.]

Oh, crap. [She quickly scoots the ring out of sight.] This was supposed to be a surprise!

And it's not just for Kanji, either! I'm making jewelry for some of my other friends, too...

Actually, for Winry and Karen. Winry has several piercings in her ears, so what's a few more earrings?

I've actually been thinking about getting a second pair of piercings... [The puts one finger behind her ear, showing off the steel earrings that Ed made her.] Right above the ones I have now. What do you think about that?

I noticed that when I talked to her.

If you think you would like that I have no saying in this, Naoko. Is your body.

Isn't it cute? I didn't think multiple piercings would look good on a girl, but Winry certainly proved me wrong!

Well... I do value my friends' opinions... But I think another set of piercings wouldn't be over-doing it. I don't plan to punch a bunch of holes in my ears, like Kanji.

I'm not versed in cute things but they looks nice.

Maybe it will be too much. I don't mind, but some people might not take you seriously is you start filling your head will holes and piercings.

Rise-chan has been teaching me a lot. She makes it look so effortless and natural. That's why I always found it strange when people would think of me as "cute".

Exactly. I still have to maintain a certain professional appearance if I'm going to work alongside the police force in the future. So, I think I'll stop with this last set of piercings.

Why is that so strange?

You can always pierce non visible part of your anatomy. I'm not going around showing my piercing after all.

I've just... never really thought of myself as "cute" once I started living full-time as a boy. That's all.

...Ah. N-No thank you. That's... usually far more painful than getting a simple piercing in the ear...

Nonsence, some boys are cute too. Like Issei.

Well...is not that painful.

Well, yes... But I didn't want to be thought of as "cute". Cuteness tends to imply a certain childishness, and I was very much obsessed with being thought of as an "adult" at the time...

...You speak as though you've actually experienced this yourself.

Those are just misconceptions. Issei doesn't act childish...except you don't mention his zombie dog, that is it.

Hm...do it?

I understand that now... That's why I don't really mind it so much when people refer to me as "cute" or "pretty". I did win the Beauty Pageant for a reason, I think...

...Erm, no comment.
