Nanako-chan is alive... He didn't kill her. Somehow, she recovered...

He's innocent. He told us everything.

All this time, he was trying to save people... not knowing that he was sending them to a place of almost certain death.

What a sad and pitiful situation. That poor man...

...I was so certain that he was the killer. The Namatame that appeared on the Midnight Channel practically asked us to kill him.

But I was wrong. We all were. That wasn't his intent at all. I was willing to act as judge, jury, and executioner without even listening to Namatame's side of the story...

He was trying to protect us. In his own misguided way, he wanted to save us from the killer... To abscond us to a place where he couldn't reach...

God, I've been such a fool!

It's a really confusing case Naoto, we all can make mistakes. Emotions are always hard to control adn you wanted him to be the killed because you want htis case solved. Now you learn from it.

How Namatame discovered the TV world?

No... that's not why I wanted Namatame to die. It was because Nanako-chan had died... and I was so sure that Namatame had been responsible for it. I knew that his death wouldn't bring Nanako-chan back, but I... I just felt such overwhelming hate and rage...

He said he discovered it completely by accident. After Mayumi Yamano--the woman with whom been having an affair--was murdered, he returned to Inaba, and happened to be staring at a blank TV screen during a rainy day at midnight. That's how he learned about the Midnight Channel. And when he tried to touch the image on the screen, he discovered that his hand could pass through to the other side...

I understand. When Michael Trinity killed my sister I felt the same way.

Strange. And then it worked with every single tv?

...he did what?

Yes. Each TV takes you to a different part of that world. That's why we always enter from the one in Junes... so that we always end up in the same place. We know it's a safe entrance.

He killed Alizé and he killed Kuroba too. It was another trick of the community, but they died for real. Simon and others members were involved. All the people who died woke up in their home a few hours later. Alizé was gone for a week, unlike the others. I thought that she was not going to come back.

Do you know how big that world is?

The community... can actually murder people...?

I have no idea. Perhaps it's as big as our own world, or even bigger. Perhaps it's as infinite as the universe... There's no way of knowing for sure...

In some way...yes.

That's really worrisome.

I thought that the community ultimately didn't harm the members directly...

Um... You said you wanted to come by? You can, if you like.

The community can turn the members crazy and they kill each other. That's it.

You don't have to tell me that twice.

So I've seen... It's a disturbing thought, surely.

Shall I get some tea ready for when you arrive?

Tell me about it. Like if real life wasn't enough.

That would be nice, but only if you aren't busy.

Especially when you come from a world where your own subconscious is hellbent on killing you...

No, not really. And it's not as though I can go to sleep right away, not after everything that's happened this evening...
