[The first thing that Clover notices upon waking up--that ceiling is not her's. Nor does she know the person sleeping next to her. She shoots up out of bed, wondering just what in the world is going on here.

Before she can think of what to do (or kick him in the kneecaps), the person who is apparently her "husband"

[Iceland is just walking down the road with a puffin on his head.]

...Are you okay?

[...Okay that's totally normal.]

I-I think so, but... Why do you have a bird on your head? Geez, and I thought those people who act like robots were the strange ones...

[fireandiceland]

[The puffin answers:] What're you talkin' about, I'm way more adorable than the drones!

[Iceland looks vaguely embarrassed.] Um, he's my puffin, I got him back recently.

You seem like you have more courage than to let a bird answer for you.

[Forgive her, she's kind of worried right now.
...Waaaaait a minute.]

The bird... talks?

'Course I talk! I'm a good date, too!

[Iceland is just. Grabbing puffin by his head.]

He does that on his own. Ignore him.

...Date? Who would date a pigeon?

[Or puffin, you know, whichever.]

[fireandiceland]

[Puffin bites Ice's hand and takes off to fly right at Clover's face.] Puffin, puffin! I'm a million times cuter than any mangy pigeon! Look at my sleek black feathers!

No, stop that-- [Iceland is trying to grab Puffin.]

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

[So she'll just run off in the other direction in fear of getting pecked in the face.]

Pige--I mean, Puffin, sorry!

[fireandiceland]

[Iceland finally grabs Puffin, growling at him to leave her alone.]

I'm sorry. He's--like that.

So he always tries to peck off faces.

Better than those people who are always cheery no matter what, though. [She points a thumb back at one of the random drones, who only waves in response.]

[fireandiceland]

[Iceland looks over at the drone.]

They're drones. They think they've always lived here.

[truthhadgone]

They've certainly been here longer than I have. I still don't really know where "here" is.

[fireandiceland]

[Oh, she really has just gotten here.]

This is Mayfield. Everyone wakes up here, and the drones act like us and everyone else lived here all their lives. There's no way out.

[truthhadgone]

...No way out?

[Her expression falters.]

I was wondering why there were two kids calling me "mommy" this morning.

[fireandiceland]

You can lock them in the basement if they annoy you.

[That's what he does with his drone family.]

This place takes all your things from you, but you get them back every once in a while after the town does something weird.

[truthhadgone]

I-in the basement? I... think I'll be okay for now, unless they want me to do their hair or something later.

[Locking small children in the basement doesn't sound like fun to her.]

I don't have any of my clothes from home at all with me, either... This place really did take everything, huh. I mean, the last two times something like this happened, at least I had my clothes and stuff.

[Does something 'weird'. Huh.]
