Hello, Ed? My name is Vash, Winry asked me to talk to you. [Let's make sure we have the right person before we get into the nitty gritty.]

Yeah, that's me. I wanted to talk to you too- about this guy who's getting automail.

[Yup, sounds like he has the right guy.] Legato, he might not look like much, but he can be very dangerous. He has the ability to take control over someone's body at will.

I'm not really sure. I've seen him do it over a distance, so he doesn't even need to be looking at his targets. [That's right, targets, more than one.]

[More than one. Yeah, Ed doesn't miss that part, and it just makes him more nervous.]

What're the chances that he'll try to hurt someone?

So far as I can tell, he doesn't exactly want a man hunt after him. Not to mention he needs Winry for this. I want to say he won't try anything, but he's not exactly easy to read.

An ability like that means he'll be dangerous even when he's recovering from the surgery. How do you fight someone with that kind of power...?

There isn't much to do, maybe if he was groggy he couldn't get control. Besides knocking him unconscious I haven't seen him have many weaknesses.

[.......]

Winry really knows how to pick them. [Now he's really sure this'll be nothing but trouble.]

Well, I'm really hopeful nothing will go wrong.

[Uuugh, fine, you be hopeful, and he'll be cynical, and maybe things will even out between them.]

...It's likely that once the surgery is under way he won't be able to do anything, at least. It's pretty intense, and you can't just walk away from it.

I know. [In more ways than one.] That's the part I'm most worried about actually, he has a surprisingly high tolerance for pain, but may feel the need to take extra precautions to protect himself while he's recovering. [Vash can clearly remember shooting the man four time and he hardly blinking. As much as he'd like to forget.]

It's not just pain. The surgery comes with a fever strong enough to knock a person flat and make them cough up blood for days. Even the strongest people shouldn't take it lightly.

[After going through it twice, he remembers it clearly- sometimes it had been so bad he'd thought he was going to die.]

Legato won't like that. [Vash had remembered the intense pain that had come from the attachment of his own arm, but the coughing blood is new.]

That's what worries me. At the time it could seem like the surgery is doing more harm than good, and if he reacts badly instead of dealing with it...

[Dammit, now he really wants to be in the operating room to keep an eye on things.]
